The links are Russian, but titles/books are in English. I use use Winrar to unzip these, then same them as .txt files in Word. Then use MakeDoc (free - just Google) to convert the .txt files to .prc. Works great.

Thanks for the link!
I'm having some trouble figuring out how to get makedoc and all that to work. I think I have all the downloads, but everytime I click on something winrar opens (e-books, makedoc, etc...).
Can you give me step by step instructions? I'm not very computer intelligent, but I love good books.

Let me try. .rar documents are bsically the same as .zip files, if I'm not mistaken. I downloaded a demo of WinRar, and just keep using it. From the Greylib ebook site, everything dloads as .rar.

So, dbl click on them, and another window should open (if you have winrar installed). In this new window you'll see your ebook as a .doc file. Click this, and move it to a pre-made folder i.e. "ebooks". From there open it up in MS Word, and resave it as a .txt file. Then, open up MakeDoc (once you've used WinRar to unzip/install it). MakeDoc will ask you for the file path (your "ebooks" folder) and to give the ebook a name. it has other options for line breaks etc. but I leave them mostly as is.
You can experiment with those, and see what works best for you. You can also specify a destination for your .prc file. I use the same folder for both types. So, in summary, dload and install WinRar, and MakeDoc (both free). Then download the ebooks in .rar format from the site I listed. Take that .rar and unzip it using Winrar. Take the resulting .doc file and save it as .txt in MS Word. Then use MakeDoc to convert .txt to a .prc file. Viola! Sounds complex, but really it comes down to about 4 easy steps. Converting an ebook this way takes less than one minute per book. Hope this helps. :approve:

Try mobipocket - you might like it more. I can get a lot more on the screen with it and it runs faster than MS reader, I also find it easier to reinstall than MS Reader on a reset and fictionwise allow you to update licence if you suffer a reset and lost original key for protected ebooks

Hard resets do not determine the number of activations you get with MS Reader. It's how many devices you have installed it on.

I doubt it. I downloaded a bunch of eBooks from manybooks.net in eReader format, and Mobipocket spitted them out "corrupted file error" on all of them, whereas eReaderPro read them just file as they are.

You've answered your own question. Mobipocket format and eReader format are not the same thing. I understood from falconflyer's post that he has books that he reads in Mobipocket on his Palm. He wanted to know if these books would be readable in Mobipocket on his new PPC. The answer is yes.

If you download anything in eReader format from manybooks.net, then Mobipocket will not read them because they are not in Mobipocket format.

Great list! Thanks for sharing it. I am having fun checking out what is available. While I like what I found on Voidspace's site (http://www.voidspace.org.uk/cyberpunk/other_books.shtml) I started thinking that it wasn't that long ago that CS Lewis died and did a little research on the internet and from what I could find a least some of the stuff on Voidspace is still under copyright. I would love to have them to read on my X50v, and I think I own all of them in hardcopy, but it would seem to violate copyright law? Do you know anything to the contrary?

Thanks.
