Worried Vote! Do you want a program that will read out loud ebooks?

I'm still inerested in your votes. So please feel free to vote. I'm thinking of giving a beta copy of the program to all who vote.

So fare it looks like more people want this pgm than don't. So I'm spending some of my time to make this pgm. If there is more interest in it then I'll put some serious efert into it, but for now, this will be a side project. So I don't know how long before I have a beta copy out....

Thanks for your votes and feedback.

ML, J

"This is a poll and/or a request to see if or how much a function for readding ebooks out loud would be wanted.

(Clarification: Added after a few votes...

This would be a program that vocalized the text. The text would be read by computer. It would not be like Audible.com as Audible uses voice files that can be quite big and dependent on a person to record the voice and thus cost extra money to make and for you to get the book...

This would be an add-in or separate program that would take an ebook and/or text file and turn it into vocalized sounds, thus reading the book out loud.

When programed correctly all that was written would be able to be understood clearly. And thus one could listen to any book that exists in written form--of which there are millions!!!)

Please give any feedback."

I wouldn't mind it if it worked with MS Reader e-books. My boss is sending me to do data entry for the next month, and I'm allowed to use headphones while working, so that would be nice. God, I hate data entry.

The books from audible are nice, it just depends on who reads it. The voice would need to be something easy to listen to.

Frenchy, [Nice nic]

Sorry, I'm sure it could be made to read as anyones voice but that will be some time after beta... It would sound simular to the Computer voices for now. Or if I get daring, maybe like Tomy Cruzz!!! [misspelling intentional ]

Yes, definitely interested; a Text-to-Speech program is what I have been seeking to enable a severely dyslectic person to use for reading books.
A program like this would open a whole new, and economic way of reading for these people.

I have come across Text2Speech, an audible reader, but do not find it available for the pocket PC. At http://www.text2speech.com/ they do promote licensing of their synthesizer code for inclusion in software products. This route may preclude re-inventing the wheel.

Does anyone know of a product of this type already available for the PPC?

I know I'm late but that would be very cool. Have you made any progress on the program?

Yes very interested. Both my son's are dyslexic. To read a whole book or just highlight a word you are not sure about.
