I have used MS Reader, Adobe, and Mobipocket. Ms Reader is nice but takes up too much memory. I also do not like the way it keeps track of where you are. I had problems with bookmarks (granted might be user error but facilitated by poor interface). Adobe.... I couldn't get the stupid program to register until I installed it in primary memory. NO good... need my memory free!
Mobipocket is easy to use, it easily keeps track of where I am in a story. I have bought many books from Fictionwise and basically just shop there. I'd like to use Simonsays.com more but unless they offer support for Mobipocket it's just not worth it. The only thing I don't like about mobipocket is the way it lists your library on the ppc. you have to scroll down with the down button to just get to what you want. I'd rather have a drop down or something faster to use.
that being said, it's still the best and easiest program I've found to read books on my ppc.

Same question...

I was wondering about this same issue the other day. I have purchased Mobipocket Reader and eReader Pro. I have used MS Reader for some time and never tried Ubook.

MSReader is slow, in my opinion. It is well featured, and has a very good free dictionary (very helpful when reading). I recently gave it another try, and was just disappointed with the size, and the speed. Really bloated.

There are lots of things to like about Mobipocket. Free book converter, good support for links and images, and it is fairly fast. Fonts are also well done, and it has a pretty good selection of books to purchase.

My preference, though, is eReader. It is quick, and I love it's simple interface. I have purchased a good dictionary for it, and have purchased many books for it. I like the fact that I can use the software on as many new platforms as I like (I have already purchased a copy for PPC, and Palm) but do not have to repurchase my books after so many times (You can use the books you purchase on up to 8 devices with MS reader, and as far as I can tell, 4 with MobiPocket). eReader is fast, clean, and has a small footprint. By far, my preferred format for reading.

I hope that helps you with your decision, but understand that all of this is simply my humble opinion. Hope you are able to find one that you like best as well!

Best of luck!!

eReader. I can read the same books on my PPC and on my Treo with no additional cost for the software.

uBook all the way. I don't care about .lit files. I use txt, rtf, html, PDB/PRC. It's a pain to figure out how to configure it at first, but once you get the screen set up the way you like it is fantastic.

uBook can read eBooks (.TXT, .HTML, .PDB, .PRC) saved as zipped files (xxxx.zip), so it saves a ton of space on your PDA !!!

Not sure any of the others can do this?

My preference is uBook. :approve:

Microsoft Ereader

I love my Microsoft E-Reader for my books. I won't get the title if I cannot get it in .lit format. Easily transportable between PPC and PC.

For large reference works like IMDB, The Bible or Encylopedias you can't beat Tomeraider.

I think I have a solution for this problem. Next to the library icon at the top of the screen is a small arrow, tap on that and then "settings", and check the box beside "Touch screen turn page". Hope this helps. Now all you have to do is tap the screen instead of scrolling down. :approve:

Wow, what an easy and very functional tool. So much easier to intall and get up and running. Microsoft Reader is a Tin Lizzy compared to MobiPocket. I am no computer wiz but now I have downloaded some non-fiction books; and also love their Web Companion so much I may soon drop my Advantgo client. :approve:

I still use the free version of uBook.

There is a desktop PC version of uBook, which was free several months ago (not sure now?), so uBook also lets you read on your PC as well as PPC. Also the desktop version lets you view the eBook on your monitor in full screen.

uBook has pratically every feature you can imagine in a reader.

It also can read directly from document files which were compressed into much smaller zipped (.zip) files. This allows yout to save a huge amount of space on your PPC.
