Only MSReader will read DRM-protected .lit files

A good reason to stay away from MSReader, IMO. I like eReader's DRM system much, much better. Now, if only they'd hurry up with a VGA version . . .

Ubook for me - I don't necessarily want to store my books where MS reader wants to, I want to be able to maximise the number of lines I can see per screen (I have my own Ubook skin which shows 25 lines per screen at a readable size, compared to MS reader's 14 lines or so), remove the title bar, etc. The skins are easy to create, it handles lots of formats, and it can see inside zip files too.

Are you sure ?

I used MS Reader and PalmReader (now eReader) on X5. I switched to MobiPocket Reader when I got X50v. Using VGA hack, MobiPocket Reader looks really good. I just might pay for the Pro version. I really like the auto scroll function.

Mobipocket allows you to display text right up to the edges of the screen, toggle full screen and supports cleartype and ragged right fomatting. Most importantly the DRM key is openly displayed, you enter this key into websites such as fictionwise or Mobipocket before downloading books, whereas with Reader you have to be synced in. Fictionwise allow you 3 keys, so you can share books a bit and it is easy to update the key on the site if you re-install mobipocket on your pc or ppc. I read many purchased books rather than free classics, and I like mobipocket. ;-)

I've had problems with all readers except MSreader. Mobi pocket had ugly fonts on my VGA screen and PDF viewer wouldn't let me read books that I had bought. I'm quite happy with MSReader at the moment.

Mobibook is my reader of choice.

Looks wonderful in true VGA but hideous in QVGA.

I like it in landscape too for some reason

Have you got it to open protected .lit boodk? I have dozens of MS Reader .lit books that are protected, and when I tried MobiPocket reader they would not open.

I've tried them all and keep coming back to MS Reader. I like to keep things simple and I think MS is the best for me.

IMHO the 2 programs that really benifit from 'true vga' are mobibook and acrobat reader. Anybody who is in the 'well theres no point in the VGA thing' camp should try acrobat at least once.

(I know there are all sorts of reasons why people don't like acrobat for e-books but i use it for some technical documents and stuff.)

I like iSilo best.

The two other readers I have installed, Mobipocket and eReader, are neither compatible with my X50v in QVGA mode without a VGA-aware hack.
