I just received my new Axim x30 to replace the one that the pins broke on and am working on reloading it. I didn't use my back up since there were quite a few things I wanted redone or set different.

Anyway, I got to activating my copy of Microsoft Reader and I'm getting the following error:

"You have an older version of Pocket PC which does not support Activation. Activation requires Pocket PC 2002 or later."

This is a brand enw Axim x30 (not a refurb). It's running WM2003SE. It came with A05. There doesn't seem to be a way around this.

I have soft reset the Pocket PC. I have rebooted the computer. I'm not sure what else can be done. Any help would be much appreciated since I am in the middle of a great book and this is one of the main uses of my Axim.

This is really going to upset me if I can't finsish the book I'm in the middle of. How depressing!!!

Think there is any chance Fictionwise would allow me to redownload in another format? Anyone use anything other than MS Reader with success?

install ms reader to main memory, the activation will NOT work in BIS or a storage card

You can always Download/install/and activate the desktop version Of MS reader to finish that book

Also, make it a point in the future to back up your MS Reader activation files. I takes a couple seconds, and prevents you from having to waste another activation if you hard reset or change PPC's.

Should have looked in these threads before I tried Activation.
I just started to read EBooks. I had installed Reader to BIS and it worked fine for non-DRM ebooks.

Tried to Activate tonight and ran into all kinds of hassles. Keep getting the message that my operating system version was wrong. I have AS 3.8 and Dell x50v; so !!

Figured I'd reinstall to main memory and retry activation. Lo and behold it worked. :rolling:

Not very happy that you can't install to BIS and activate. Especially since MS wrote the Reader and the OS. :exc:

Doesn't give me a warm fuzzy getting Ebooks in *.lit format.

I may go back to Mobipocket and give it another try. Fonts weren't as clear as Reader. Couldn't use VGA hack. Fonts were too small.

Activated from desktop here.

Just now looked at site and it was up.

Have to use IE. Desn't work with Firefox. (Gee, am I suprised or what?)

I think you have to activate via desktop, since it uses activesync to download the activation files.

how do I add ebooks.. I'm kinda lost..
