Try these instructions from ebooks.com. You can also get some freebies from the Microsoft site. The books will be stored in the My Library folder on your pc. :approve: You can then just drag and drop them onto your Axim in Explorer.

You can also create a "My Documents" folder on your CF/SD card and drop them in there and MS Reader will pick them up if you don't want to use your system memory.

Most of the books I read don't require the device being activated to read them. It's still a good idea to have it activated though.

For example if you want a book from The Baen Free Library You would download the .zip file to your PC or Ax (If you have Total Commander for Pocket PC or another unzipping app on your device,)unzip the file, then put it on your storage card in a My Documents folder. Then either open Reader or tap on the file with file explorer.

I read text (.txt) ebooks and it's required to first open the reader, Then choose the book from within (otherwise, MS Word tries to open them andit doens't have the memory to do it)

Just a little note

This site boasts the 10 best sites for ebooks http://cebooks.blogspot.com/. If you click around enough doing Google search there are plenty FREE books to be had and many best sellers are available for a fee. Once you have downloaded your book in a .lit (MS Reader format) you can click Explore in ActiveSync navigate through My Device to the location you wish to save them. Just as main storage has a "My Documents" folder, you should create a "My Documents" folder in your storage cards to save your books and documents in. If they are not in a "My Documents" folder, applications such as MS Reader, Pocket Word, and Pocket Excel will not automatically recognize (display) your stored files in library and such when you open the application. My meager library of 26 titles were all FREE.
