Great news: MSReader no longer has to be installed in main memory!
I just got my July 2005 copy of Pocket PC Magazine and Diane Dumas had a tip on how to install and use the newest version of MSReader from BIS or an SD card. I tried it and it works. :approve:
(I don't think her article is online yet, but the hardcopy has it on page 44, in an article entitled Diane's Discoveries.)
How? Simply install in BIS or on your storage card. Then, using AS explorer, open your MSReader folder and move the font files [.TTF] to your Windows\Fonts folder. Then, create a shortcut of the reader .exe and name it "MsReader" and move it to your Windows\Start Menu\Programs folder.
Soft reset, and it should work.
AND, a way to avoid installing those font files in your main memory? Use the freeware Fontonstorage (
http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=726)app, and have it load automatically after a soft reset by placing the tiny .exe file in your Windows\Startup folder. I did, and put the reader fonts in my Fonts folder on my SD card, and MSReader worked great!
Great find by Diane, and it works great on my X50v.
Good luck!!! :) :approve:
