Originally made by RCA, bought by Gemstar together with Rocket eBook, both now discontinued - http://www.gemstar-ebook.com/ebcontent/supt/1200.asp

Thanks for the info and the link. I did a google search and found some stuff too. E-bay has one, I think it was up to about $85 when I looked last. Too bad it's discontinued.

I own 2 of the Reb-1200 for the last 3 years and they are amazing and much better to read on.(I have repaired both of them with spares bought off ebay) It is so much like a Hard cover book and really easy to read on. Battery life was pretty good as well as availability of books and repair. It is worth the money if you can pick one up because there are tools out there to convert files over to the format it reads. the only thing I regret them not having is RSVP the only reason I use the pocketpc to read books. I use the REB to enjoy reading where as I use the pocket pc for convenience on trips and fast reading.

No idea where he's coming from with the no one curls up in bed with an ebook. I just read the entire Stephen King Dark Tower series. Most of this was done curled up in bed without bothering the boyfriend. Also, for anyone not familiar with these stories these novels are all rather long (600+ pages with the last one being over 800). To tell the truth the reader made it easy to keep my place. I hope that ebooks stick around.

E-Books

I couldn't be bothered reading the whole post, no doubt this guy's looking at it from a commercial point.
Fact is, I've read more on a PDA than I have ever done before.
In bed, lights out, backlight on (loved the Palm green)and your totally absorbed.
Try and and carry a dozen paperbacks when you're travelling!
There will always be enthusiasts that make books available, even if it's not commercially viable, so sounds like tripe to me.
If MP3 died tomorrow, which is now big money, I'd still be able to get all my albums via "enthusiasts".
Read on and don't worry.................:-)
