Here's something from the Arkansas Democrat Gazette that says e-books are growing. It seems that the industry was marketing to children and it is adults who are keeping sales flowing.

Interesting i believe that one day a company will make a reader specifically for ebooks that way it could cost as little as say $40.00 and would be easy for kids to get hold of :approve:
I'm not going to take the Poll...I'd skew it all to heck! I like
BOTH formats and purchase both. Given the lack of bookshelf room in my house and the MARVELOUS difference in prices, I am purchasing more of the ebooks from fictionwise as they seem to come out almost as soon as the hardbound.
As a collector I would like to have the autographed hardbound copies of my core list of authors. However, reality has intruded...my bedroom space is limited and I'm not certain I want just anyone (esp. my baby grandaughter, or my son) handling my good books.

I like them both too, but being an old fart I've got paperbacks with crispy yellow pages. My goal is to replace them with low or non-DRM ebooks. :)
The licensing schemes change to often.
My goal is to have every book I've ever read in ebook format, (preferably .lit format not because I love ms but because my PPC's can all read them),. ;)

Ever since I discovered Ebooks this weekend I will probably never to back to print books! I cannot stand bulky books any longer. I become disappointed when I want to read a book off of my shelf and realize that its not in ebook format - so I sometimes decide not to read it!

There is a dark side to the world of e-books and as you have stated it is addictive to a degree. I find myself in the situation that I look first for an e-book version prior to looking for a hard back.
One good thing is that I am now rereading many old favorties that I have now gotten in e-format.
If you want to find some intersting reading do a google search on how to find free e-books......
I love e-books. I have only used e-reader (http://www.ereader.com/) to get my books. I started this when I had my palm. It looks great on the 50v. The e-reader pro (the program for e-books) is only $9.95 and it comes with a dictionary. This has some nice viewing options on it.
I dont know anything about e-books floundering. I have been able to get titles I want but I really don't read all the best sellers but this is about the only way I buy books anymore.

I just think there are so many advantages to ebooks. I can adjust the type size so I don't have to wear my reading glasses, don't have to worry about proper lighting, can carry a small library around in my purse, I don't have to touch up my makeup to buy a new book, don't have to worry about how I'm going to find room for a new book on our shelves and, of course, ebooks are much more environmently friendly. Oh - and last but not least - my DH, who thinks we have far too many books already, has no idea how many books I really have or when I buy a new one.
What's not to love?

In theory, I like ebooks, but the selection is abysmal. But I would never give up real books for them - I love the process of getting a new book. Going to my favorite local bookstore, browsing the shelves. Reading employees' comments, looking at it. Opening it up. All of it. It's great.

I love ebooks and Ilove carrying a library with me, but I hate buying ebooks knowing that in 5-10 years I will probably not be able to access them due to changing formats, reader companies going out of business, lost DRMs, etc.
