Comic Books

Does anyone know of a program that will read .cbz or .cbr files?

Cheers

not for ppc. besides they would be far too small to read, or annoying with the scrolling game

You can always unzip/unrar them and use one of the picture viewing programs. You'd have to pan and scan though

If you can view the files on your PC, you might be able to convert them for PPC using Repligo. I'm not sure if this will really work, but Repligo has a demo you can try.

It seems that .cbr and. cbz are a bittorrent file naming convention. http://btfaq.com/serve/cache/45.html

Seems kinda fishy to me??? I don't think those books should be there.

They're file extensions mainly used by a program called CDisplay.
Most comic books are distributed in .cbr or cbz format which are basically just .rar or .zip files renamed. Being renamed just makes it easier to open them because double clicking .cb* files will open them in CDisplay.

No CDisplay for PPC. Repligo is probaby your best bet.

Yes they unzip and unrar just fine. I was hoping there would be a suitable viewer however. Well dev's, there is a hole to fill for you. :)

When they tried to do just comic strips there was killer software but the Comic Syndicates ruined the buzz.

It appears to take a whole lot of moollah to keep a comic syndicate happy, that's not counting the hosting costs.
