Best book reader for study (highlighting, text search, and annotation?)

As the title says. Up till now I've been using Gowerpoint UBook for reading and such, because I liked it's ability to take primary sources freely available on the Web and reading them without conversion. But daggonit if it isn't the most frustrating thing in the world for annotation.

Only other book readers I've tried have been PalmReader (Now Ereader) and MS Reader; I liked MS Reader's annotation features, but its wide margins on such a small screen bugged me. Maybe it will be better on a VGA device?

Ditto I think Mobipocket is your best choice for that. Make sure to catch the latest beta of V5.0 though.

Agreed. The Beta gives you the professional features (free for 90 days) and is much better than the previous version

"What worries me a bit is that according to their changelog, the Hardware PID is now supposed to be resistant to hard resets. How does that work? Are they changing some part of the underlying ROM? I'd be happy if someone could answer this."

Anyone heard or know anything about this?

From Cheshire over at MobileRead: "I think what 'hardware resistant PID' means is a PID based on the hash code of the Pocket PC (similar to Microsoft's activation scheme), so that even if you hard-reset your PPC, you won't have to key in your new PID and re-download the DRMed ebook."

OT: MSReader is lacking for that use. I wonder if there are any plans for it in WM2005, after all you're supposed to be able to load codecs in WMP for PPC, Why not ebook formats for MSReader?

Thanks for the info, I kinda figured it out for myself, but still wasn't 100% sure. :approve:
