I only ask because I'm doing the opposite of all of you and I convert all of my TXT, DOC, HTM, and PDB files into LIT files.
MSReader is free...
It runs just fine from BIS...
If it's pre-installed in ROM then it takes no storage space at all...
The LIT files are typically smaller so there's an other space savings...
Besides lacking an auto-scroll function, what is the big complaint that makes it worth paying for and installing an alternative?
No offense intended... I'm really wondering.

Among all the other responces regarding the various problmes with MSReader, some of the most important differences between reader & other alternatives, is the ability to format your book how you want it. For example, if I want to use a very small font, because I do not like constantly flipping pages, I can, if I want a larger font, because I can't see as well as others, I can.
More important to me, I read in the dark a lot, & the light from a white page, even on the dimmest setting of my PDA, is hard on my eyes, & hard for my wife to sleep. I use ereader, (Ubook also does this) & set the theme to "inverse", making the background black, foreground white, & it is soooo much easier on the eyes.
Also, most other readers open your books almost instantly, versus the nearly whole minute or so (it seems that long when you are waiting on msreader to open a simple book!!) it takes to open a book in reader.
The mere fact that so many other readers that must be paid for still continue to be popular, in spite of the fact that MS has made MSreader free, should tell you something.
All that being said, are there any softwares out there that allow you to simply load up a .lit file & export it to a .pdb file, no user interface at all?? I have a large library of .lit's, & would like to mass convert them all to .pdb, don't really care much how pretty the output is, so long as it is readable. ie, if it strips out chapters, images, covers, etc, I don't care, so long as the book is there.
Thanks,
Dave
