Morphgear Emulator on X51v
I'm a new member, and new to the Dell side of PPC's. My Axim X51v is my first Dell PPC.

I'm trying to get the Morphgear Emulator to work the X51v... But all I get is a whinge from the program about there not being enough memory for the rom... and this PDA has ample memory. I guess it's the same problem as with Q3ce? - The fact that WM5 doesnt use the RAM for program/storage like it used to?

Some help here would be nice

I really want to be able to play my SNES and GBA games on it, like I did with my old PPC.
Links, ideas, hints... just about anything is welcome!

Thanks in hope,
Josh

If that doesnt do it, try going into the video settings and messing around in there...

I have a few Recommendations for you to do b4 anything, I must note that i do not currrently have a working pocket pc at the moment. My Axim X50v has been bricked for some time now and Dell's customer support is ****,telling me that my warranty had expired 15 days after my handheld was bricked, no grace period whatsoever and told me i can buy a new 1 year warranty for $399.99 which would included a replacement of the device. I've bought a new device every year from them and they decided to **** me over with my X50v and with that i will not trust Dell for a bit and faded myself into the shadows of Sony's PSP Realm, away from the Pocket PC world for at least a Year. I do try to pop on this forum to help people out like yourself, which brings me back to the subject. Sorry for the rant, i just don't like dell. My recommendations are what i remember in my mind, someone please eloborate a better explanation to my explanations:

1.Go Inside your options menu (i icon)of Morphgear and pick the last item on the menu (I forgot what it was called, sorry).
2.Once inside,
a.Swap your driver to Raw Framebuffer, X51v and WM5 upgraded owners only. X50v owners should be either using GDI or Gapi w/gapi tweak installed.
b.Go down the page and put Thread Priority to High.
3.Back at Morphgear, go to SNES Settings and make sure you have the rom at highest # (128k or something like that, i'm not sure what the number really is.) Frameskip is 2, sound 22khz.
4.Back at Morphgeat, go in GBA Settings and turn off the sound (trust me, only a few games sound good with it on in Morphgear, plus having it off makes it faster !) Frameskip varies.
5. That should wrap it up to get your games running smoothly/descently on you pocket pc. Post any questions if you got any, I'll try to answer them to the best of my ability ! Cya'll lata' again, you guys are the best!

Tried that (used 'auto' before), didn't help anything, even seemed slower actually.

Didn't seem to help much either but I guess it's a good idea.

8MB actually. Thats the default anyway.

I'll add my own $0.02: Framerate seems to all depend on your idea of 'smooth'. If for example the framerate indicator reports: 50/50/16 that means: displaying 50fps, intended rate 50fps, generating 16 fps.

Now. Whew.. how to put this into understandable english.

The only 'really' relevant one is the very last one. The game generates 16 new ('changed') images per second. And that really is too slow for 'smooth gameplay'

Now the ONLY setting I found to improve my game's performance drastically is turning OFF the scaler. Playing 100% image size (which fills 1/2 the screen or something) suddenly shoots up my real FPS to 26-30 which is suddenly pretty smooth! I wish morphgear wasn't VGA aware and would just 'pixel double' it all.

This to me proves morphgear is not using the 2700 chip in our devices since it has an on-board video smoother/scaler that should be able to do this with no speed loss.

Thanks for your tips and good luck with the aximbrick.

Actually, you can make Morphgear VGA Unaware, Emulamer himself figured it out. Here's a link about how to do it, you can use the newest morphgear, don't worry ! Make sure to grab/install the Gapi Tweak. I'm not sure if your are able to have Gapi Tweak 1.11 or 2.1 on the Axim X51v or if either works at all for the device. Oh, speaking of speed for a moment, only a few games run smoothly, like cameltry and Soul Blazer for SNES which run great at 0 Framekip! I also said that the settings i gave make games run smoothly/descently. Descently... is depending upon the user descretion and utmost definition of what they "believe" is playable. Does the speed have to be noticeably smooth... no. Can it be set at a speed you configured in order to play the game from it's beginning to it's end so you can play it descently... yes! Anyway, here's the link i mentioned above, good luck with it, Emulamer tries his best to explain it easily but people still try to talk to me on MSN Messenger to help them through the process. I cannot any longer as my hanheld, like i've said b4, is bricked at the moment.
Check out Emulamer's 4th post:
http://www.spicypixel.com/forum/foru...d=1352&start=1

Note- I also recommend people to turn off the image scaler off, it doesn't drag down the processing power as much and significantly improves your speed in Morphgear.

I simply slammed the driver into Raw, the throttle to high, the scale to 150%, frameskip to 3, and let it rip... I can play tekken advance and mortal kombat advance as smoooooth as silk

Perhaps you need to have a bit more of a fiddle around...?

Nah, there are a few factors:

- Which game (some are easier to run than others)
- What you like.

If you think super mario world snes runs exactly the same at no scale (i.e. very small screen) and 150%, then uh.. well. you're lucky or just less picky than me.

OK tried that.. and.. well.. it works. Sortof. :P

Basically yeah it worked just fine, I removed the hires aware and restarted. Seemed lowres-ish.

But:

- GAPI mode worked at hmm 20fps
- GDI mode at 15
- raw frame buffer at 30fps

problem is that raw frame buffer was a stamp-sized window in the top left corner of the screen. Not high-res aware but no pixel doubling either

Anyone know how to explicitly pixeldouble?
