problem using yamece

trying to get yamece running on my axim (400MHz, A03 rom, 256MB sd card, activesync 3.7) because pocket nester keeps locking up after about 10 minutes of play....

downloaded yamce from the links in this forum and have copied the .exe to multiple locations on my axim (i.e. - \Temp, \Windows, \SD Card), but can't get it to run any of my nes roms installed on my sd card. instead it keeps running what appears to be a demo game.

open dialog appears to work fine and shows the roms on the sd card, but the rom never appears to load into the emulator.

since others in this forum seem to have no problems with yamece, what am i doing wrong?

I have dropped all the emulators (the .exe files) and the ROMs I want into the same directory, so as to not meddle with settings, folders, etc etc......everything works like a charm. You should try to do the same.....

tried it, but it still wouldn't load the nes roms and still gave me the same lame mini-game after "PRESS RUN BUTTON" screen.

you mentioned "all the emulators (the .exe files)". is there more than 1 exe file because all i got from the .zip download file was yamece.exe?

No, I mean all the .exe files for all the different emulators that I use (PocketEngine, PocketLynx, PocketGear, and PocketNes). I have them all in the same dir (My Emulators or something), and I have dropped all roms in a My Documents folder, so they are accessible from everywhere and every app.......

I havent actually checked YameCE to see its requirements, but if its not "locked" somehow, then it should be easy as pie to make it work and load whatever ROM you want.......seems a bit quircky....

something's awry...it's either something bonehead easy or i've got some setting/access control messed up that's not allowing yamece to load the rom....so far moving the .exe and the rom to different folders hasn't done the trick

this SHOULD be pretty easy....copy .exe to axim->run yamece->set language to english->load rom->play game until eyes give out....

I'm having trouble getting the buttons remapped to what I want them, and it's impossible to tell what button refers to what.

Does anyknow know how to do that correctly, as YameCE seems to run Gameboy and NES games better than Nester, but i can't get the buttons working right

could be your roms are bad (make sure there unzipped, heh), if not, you should probably redownload YAME somewhere else and start fresh, YAME's directory should make no difference i believe.

as for mapping the buttons if u havent already figured it out (probably have )

in the input 1 settings, there are two rows of 3 blocks
the bottom three should go
1=blank 2=mailbutton 3=homebutton
then the very bottom there are two blocks for select and start, you can ignore the rest exept for the keypad which should be obvious.

also I suggest using the scroll/record button for saving/loading states on the input2 panel, this should help even out the difficulty playing on the axim.

I love Yamce. It is probably the best gameboy emulator overall in regards to speed and sound (gnuboy does play a few more titles, but it is slow and crappy sound-wise).

Anyway, have you tried making a My Documents folder in your SD card, and putting your roms there? Yamce didn't see my games until I did just that for my compact flash card.
