I prefer MorphGear's SNES module, although with ANY snes emulator for PocketPC you're not going to get very high frame rates. Good for RPGs and slow moving games, but not so good for sports, action, adventure, etc. Check out our Members Discount section and there is a discount for MorphGear right now.

I also use Morph Gear for my SNES games, which are only RPGs. One of the best things aboug Morph Gear is that the developer, Aaron, is constantly working on it and updating it.

I use PocketSNES . It is reported to be the fastest SNES emulator and it seems to be very stable. I run FF3 on it with only a slight slow down and roughly 10-12 fps.

I used to use PocketSNES, but with recent releases, Aaron, the developer of Morph Gear, has really gotten things to run faster. MorphGear is now just as fast as PocketSNES: Bleeding Edge.

PocketSNES is the best, and actually most games are playable. Super Mario and stuff work fine on an overclocked axim, but in the long run I would stick to NES. PocketNestor is great and there are a LOT of Amazing SNES games. The is actually super mario 3 for nes, and it is just as good as the snes game.

I tried MorphGear, but without any success...

I open the rom, and nothing happens. In the console it stops on "Loading ROM..."

It is supposed to be .SMC files right?

I did a soft reset, and now it worked...

But I expected low framerates, but not this low. I get about 3 frames/sec

I have the 300mhz axim.

To get "okay" framerates (i.e. ~15 fps) you need at least 400MHz, and you can improve a little more even by using some of the overclocking apps.

And make sure the sound is turned off.

Huh, i don't understand why the CPU speed is so important.

Playstation1 have a 33mhz cpu, so 300mhz should be enough to run a simple SNES game!?

I guess it is related to the "graphic card" or something?

Because of the crazy PC manufacturers, everyone relates POWER to the clock speed of a CPU. This is NOT accurate though. There are many other factors in the power/processing-ability of a CPU than just the MHz clock speed. Most of Apple's PowerPC processors are rated MUCH slower than any Intel processor. However, they still perform "close" to the same as an Intel. It's a difference in the architecture of the chip itself, mixed with other processors like the dedicated graphics processor. A system like the PSX has lots of different processors (graphics, sound, etc.) to take some of the load off of the main processor.
