fpsece in native landscape mode - on screen button mapping FPSECE
My first post... please excuse my ignorance if the answer has already been posted.
I am running on a Dell Axim x51v, windows mobile 5.0, in landscape mode all the time. FPSECE 9.6 runs great, full FPS, Twisted Metal for example. Everything seems fine except on screen button mapping, sticky or otherwise.
No on screen mapping works for me in any mode. For example, as a test I tried the "O" button on every single available space for on screen mapping. During gameplay, no part of the screen registers a button press.
My theory is that since my PDA is running in landscape mode natively, running FPSECE ALSO in landscape mode is messing up the button orientations, however since I get NOTHING at all for on screen responses, I am at a loss. I am not in a position to set the PDA to portrait mode at this exact moment to test the landscape mode in FPSECE by itself. Does anyone have a suggestion for now? I'd appreciate any help.

Why can't you just switch your PDA to Portrait o.O there should be an option under Hardware Key-Config like on my x50v?
If not... holy Hard Reset :P or deinstall the program that makes your x51v running landscape if you didn't do that via buttons.

It's true, it can be caused by that as FPSEce starts as Portrait app
Maybe there can be done something about that in an update but first I need to know exactly what you did... will check it later on my x50v if it gives same results there.

Thank you for your reply!
I have every other application working perfectly in landscape, and prefer that orientation with the bluetooth keyboard, and for reading, and all the other emulators and applications function in that orientation - I never need to reorient it while using it. I'd hate to have to re-set up the PDA just for one EMU while everything else is so convenient.
There is a secondary problem as well for me in FPSECE. When I map the "menu" option to a hardware key (record) it goes to the controller screen with the options... however I can only change the frameskip. AND, while I CAN change it, I have to click a part of the on screen image that's nowhere near the actual arrows for increasing/decreasing frameskip. I just started clicking the whole screen when nothing that was displayed would activate, and randomly found a spot near the bottom left, and another just below it, that would increase/decrease frameskip. No other part of the screen activates any functions of the controller or menu options there.
So as it is, to stop playing, even though I have successfully mapped the "menu" option to a hardware button, I have to soft reset.
Don't get me wrong. I am phenominally happy with my x51v, and that FPSECE will run at all, and actually fully PLAYable, on the PDA. Everything else, and I mean EVERYthing, about the PDA and the emus and software I use, is PERFECT. Also, it only IS perfect because of some modifications found on this site, ie the Broadcomm bluetooth stack. So I am not complaining or frustrated. I just wanted to round out the perfection to include FPSECE in every last function. Since 9.6 it's gameplay is a dream come true. It's just the peripheral functions of it. I've even donated to FPSECE - such hard work for free is very rare.
Thanks again for your input.

I know what you mean but this is pretty "personal"......I can name you like a dozen emus that have the same problem with such forced landscape so will the devs tell you. You just have to switch to Portrait shortly before starting FPSEce, that's no big deal and that's why this problem is not on the prior list neither am I sure how they should fix it as it is unnatural for the amp and I doubt it can detect forced orientation outside of it's own routine as it would be necessary to give correct onscreen mapping.

That's a good idea.

I only don't understand what you mean by "unnatural for the amp". What is the amp?

As I see it I have a few choices;

#1 your suggestion to switch modes just before playing the emu - although, with my Wisbar Desktop, doing that means all my icons are rearranged and unuseable (overlapping), even to launch the emu...
#2 try to get as much as I can functioning though my BT joypad, and suffer for not being able to "save" games.
#3 switch to portrait mode permanently and re-set up my desktop and appearances from scratch.

I'm thinking now #3 is the answer... I'll test it first.

Regardless, I consider this thread answered, and I thank you again Michu.

Sry for my typo (bad day here -.-) I meant app for application (FPSEce).
FPSEce is used to start as Portrait app and then go to landscape itself.

I wonder: If you start FPSEce as landscape, does it show the correct menu (options, loading iso, logo) from start? As it should force itself to show up as Portrait.

I already made the suggestion to create a landscape version of the emu itself for all the Phone users since they usually just play that way but this idea will not come true until a totally new GUI will be implemented and that can consume time
-.-

It does NOT show up normally (portrait) when first loaded, when the PDA is natively in landscape. However you can still see all menu options and everything works at that level. It's only after I start an .iso, with FPSECE set to landscape/right, that I can no longer use the menu or on screen mapping.
Thanks for passing on the suggestion. Have a better one!
