Whether any of the emulator makers have the balls / cash to take on nintendo when they try and enforce the patent is another matter, but I reckon it'd be an open and shut case....

i guess the only possible angle is that there were not emulators on PDAs and other "low performance" machines before then because they weren't powerful enough - that's very tenuous though, because you could argue that a PDA is exactly the same capability of a laptop of 10 years ago that COULD run the emulators available then...

Dunno about the validity but I do know that the emulator in development for the pocketpc (that one specifically for games zodiac or something) was forced to stop development because of it.

they must have decided it wasn't worth the fight... i guess there's always a chance they could lose - patent law is crazy as far as i can see.

well, i am trying to play Sonic1, Sonic and Knuckles 1, and Sonic2 on Pocket Genesis, and says i need the GAPI library, but when i play i get like the multi same layers, so i got echoes kinda thing, "game screen" starts in like 5 places so i end up playing like 5 echo sonics.

ok, REALLY BUGGING ME NOW. i don't know what's up. i just got the GX.dll from doing a google search, loaded up PocketGenesis1.0, put in Sonic2, i get that multi layer thing, you know when you look at an image through a prism, the image becomes like 5 of the same thing? that's what i got. don't know how to fix. plz help.

all the big N did is make sure that you cant legaly emulate any of their "new" systems. Rumors say that N might just make a comercial product and sell it. However was it ever really legal emulate consoles to begin with? If all else fails, they can still update their emulators and put them on P2Ps.

didn't sega try to sue someone way back when for an old genesis emulator??? As i remember, sega lost that battle.
