I had purchased Opera Mini and liked it. Soon after they then touted a new Beta and I made the mistake of installing that. Since, I've had to play the update game because of imposed kill dates and have actually found the newer iterations to be less stable. I've found myself using PIE more and more.

I'm kinda upset at their switching to a free beta within weeks of charging for the product and have considered going back to the last commercial release if I can find the file.

I think you are confusing opera mini with opera mobile.. Opera mini is free, and has always been free, so you couldn't have bought it

Your are right that I confused the names but, never-the-less, Opera Mobile is currently at the 8.65 Beta stage and I regret ever grabbing it over the older version I paid for.

I suspect that, as in the past, Opera sticks to proper HTML rules and too many sites are built with MS apps that follow their own rules. I hate to admit that PIE is more reliable for my use. Has there ever been a PIE update for WM5 devices?
