old DOS games on Axim ?

Is there a way of getting old PC games
(back when they were DOS or Win95 based
- eg XCOM, Dune, C&C, Civ) - to run on an
Axim ?

Pocketdos at www.pocketdos.com is a dos emulator - but do not get to excited - pocketdos will only emulate 8086 games at cga\mcga graphics - check the list of working games at the following site:-

I know people have converted xcom and ultima, but I'm not sure if they work with the new operating system. Can anyone confirm?

Well, this is an old thread and I'm not sure dethfire but I did hear about a Russian company doing PocketUFO....Dunno about Ultima but there is that Exult which could be ported to PocketPC. I believe it uses SDL but don't quote me on that, but that wouldn't be a big problem with Arisme's SDL hack.

Also, now, PocketDOS with Bochs and/or Dosbox plugins can emulate some 386/486 games. As well as the DosBox emulator port by itself.

EDIT: I checked it out.. got my copy of Railroad Tycoon running in MCGA! TOO COOL!

I have to try out some of my other older titles. If I can get Advanced Civilization to run, then I will definitely buy this!

The Bochs/DosBox plugins or DosBox port itself can do 486 i believe. I know for sure 386 as I loaded Warcraft 1 on it.

Syndicate on PPC would be awesome! I tried pocketdos and I am pretty good at computers (and an old dos user from dos 3.1 and above)
I found it tricky to operate and removed it

PocketDOS aint fun to work with I agree. I haven't had any success in it. I didn't get Warcraft running in it. Only in the DosBox port did I get it to work as well as DungeonHack. I want to try Master of Magic in it but have yet to.

I didn't get my Axim for games, but the concept of running a good ol' DOS game on it intriques me. Monkey Island anyone?

You can already run Monkey Island using PocketScumm. And it runs perfectly with sound. As well MI2, Simon the Sorcerors, Indiana Jones, Sam & Max, Day of the Tentacle etc. I played through Simon the Sorceror 1 recently using it. Too bad I only have floppy version and not the Talkie. Gonna order it though.
But I do have the talkie of Day of the Tentacle and that was quite fun to do and play on the go.

As for Dungeon Hack, get the DosBox. There's a whole thread on it on Pocketmatrix.com. Do a search on the forums and use their conf file.
