Emulator performance thread! Experts advise VERY welcome!
Okay, so in the 3 pages of posts there isn't much solid information about performance and performance tweaks for emulators.
Some people (a few) say they can get X5's to run SNES games well and the rest don't. Of course, NES games run great so I will leave them out completely. I'd like to hear some tips on tweaking X5's and even X3i's for those users. Please state the emu you are using, the tweaks you use and what your performance is like under heavy load. Something like this: Emu: PPC Model: OS: (2002 or 2003) Tweaks: (if any) Peformance: and then anything else you feel is helpful. Maybe we can put togather an informative thread to help people get the most out of their Ax. In addition, a couple of questions I have is can anyone get SNES games to work at really good frames under heavy load? If an X5 can't run SNES games well can it possibly run GBA games well? Does going from w2002 to w2003 make a difference and does changing the glyph cache help at all. Thanks for any helpful input!

Emulator: PocketNester 0.7
OS: Windows Mobile 2003 Tweaks: None (processor speed set to Maximum Performance) Performance: Excellent I learned, after making the mistake, is not to map the d-pad buttons in PocketNester, otherwise it would not work. So I had to first uninstall PocketNester, delete the PocketNester setting in the Registry, then re-install it again. I mapped the A, B, Start, and Settings buttons but not the D-pad. Now, everything works well. I have played lots of NES ROMS and they all work great. Currently playing Final Fantasy III.

Emu: Pocket SNES Bleeding Edge 01/16/2003 release http://paqpark.nuclearfallout.net/pr...pocketsnes.php PPC Model: X5 Basic (300MHz) OS: (2002 or 2003) 2002 Tweaks: (if any) always to set processor speed to normal and close all running apps (except switcher bar) Peformance: 80% speed with sound off, 70% with sound on. Playable, but slow. (would be fine for RPGs) I normally play Gradius 3 on it.

By heavy load I mean an action game that needs lots of power to run, rather then a slower paced game like an RPG.
Thanks for the tips, I'm using the Bleeding Edge emu and overclocked to 400 mhz and its not very good for action games. I'm going to upgrade to W2003 and see how that works out. I'll post some results when I get around to ordering W2003.
