Metal Gear Solid
With games like Tomb Raider coming out on the Pocket PC, can't they remake (or @ least port like TR) Metal Gear Solid and VR Missions for Pocket PC?

If they could only make a GOOD PPC port of MGS, I wouldn't mind laying out $40 for it... That is my FAVORITE game of all time... I'm sure I'm not alone in my sadistic pursuits of snapping hapless soldiers' necks from behind as Snake... am I?

That was an insanely fun game, so I'm all for it. As long as it's not a port of that horrible Gameboy Color game... ugh.

I am also in for that game. Give me another chance to kill Liquid Snake and the Sons of Liberty.

paolobeltran... I hate to break this to you, but I doubt that you could pull off a PS2 game (and a revolutionary one at that) at anything above 26 minutes per frame, give or take, on a system that can barely pull 12fps on a good GBA emulator... *sigh*

If they were to do a 'Tomb Raider Pocket'-ish job, though, they MIGHT be able to get MGS1 running fairly smoothly on the X5 Advance's, though. That's why I started this thread... bug the hell out of Konami 'till they "give me MGS PPC, or give me death"

AximPhreak,

Thanks alot for ruining my dream of having my Axim X3i as the ultimate gaming machine capable of even playing MGS2: Sons of Liberty Somewhere, someplace, I am hoping that there is somebody working on a revolutionary new technology that will enable our Axims to play MGS games. (Konami, are you listening?!)

Sorry to disappoint you, but there's too much work to be done in porting sons of liberty or even MGS and too little money to be reaped, and konami doesn't wanna screw themselves over by selling the license to port it to the wrong developer, so they aren't listening.

I'm afraid that there are 2 ways to get a working version of MGS up on an Axim:
note : the following methods are illegal unless you legally own the corresponding games and systems. Even then, DON'T DO THESE. THEY'RE BAD. Play Tomb Raider and wait for PSP .
1. Get a PPC Playstation emulator, a 1GB memory card, and the MGS rom. framerate'll be around 150 secs per frame, so don't get your hopes up...
2. decompile MGS for PC and recompile it for PPC, redoing some of the video, audio, and control systems as you go. THIS IS ILLEGAL. DON'T TELL US YOU'VE DONE IT, WE AIN'T GOIN' TO JAIL... just drop me a pvt message if you do this, i wanna ehh... see... yeah... just... see... the thing (try to get it under 256 MB tho
>=-D )

Yeah a port of MSG would be really sweet. and GTA VC too
but alas the only games that come somewhat close to that would be Tomb Raider, Radium and Spawn. you might wanna check them out to hold you while somebody comes up with an MSG port

afraid a full MGS port will be hard... here's a realistic breakdown of some of the work needed for it:

1. conversion of the video system to include a tomb raider-ish resolution reduction mode (the blurring that happens when the FPS drops)
2. TOTAL CONVERSION of control scheme from wasd etc... to hardware buttons and on-screen controls
3. re-compression of all textures to about 1/2 quality for Axim
4. De-Compiling and de-bugging
5. Re-compiling
6. Working with the code to reduce size to around 30MB
7. Talking Konami and their lawyers into granting you a license to distribute your bootleg port of one of their top-selling PSX games.

All in all, if this can be done, it will take a long time, so for now I'd suggest being content with the PSX emulator-rom combo, SNES games, and flash cartoons of decapitating Britney Spears.
