What Do I Do After Getting the Emulator?

rom = read only memory = code for arcade type video games that can be run on an emulator program to emulate the video games (e.g. galaga, pac man, donkey kong, etc...)

it has a few legal roms on it (yes there are such things) here is a description by the webmaster

* We do NOT have commercial Rom Images, do not ask for them! Any E-Mail regarding commercial roms will be forwarded to the ISDA, BSA or any other responsible authority! There are several other places to go! So again... do not bother where to get game 'XY'... don't waste our time with such things!
* All Games and Demos avaliable here are Freeware, Public Domain or were legalized for free use by their authors! Some of them are even with source! It's legal to copy them! You'll not break any copyright law! In case you find something here which is definately not free, please let the Webmaster know about it, so that he can remove it!

As far as i know that is the only legal roms site there is, so unless you want to go that other route ( in which case, hush hush try not to mention anything about it) this is your only option

unless of course you want to buy the actual cartridges and get specific hardware to dump the roms onto your ppc which could end up costing you upwards of hundreds of dollard, or so i hear

Here is a question then. If I legally own a playstation game, such as say, crash bandicoot 2, and want to rip the ROM to my pocketpc, could I do this legally? I've seen tutorial of how to rip your own legal copies of games you own to the PC and then to PocketPC, but not sure of any legal issues. I would think that if you owned the original game, you can do what you want with it.

cjradek, i have heard that what you want to do it legal, but then again from different sources i have heard it was illegal, from the DMCA

either way its too much of a grey area, could very easily be illegal because of the unfair DMCA laws, but no judge in the world would convict you. dont let it stop you, no one really veiws it as something you shouldnt do, its fair use, just id refrain from mentioning the process on this site
