Playing PS on ure axim

Ok so has anyone tried playin playstation on the x30 high? If u have, how does it look and play? And what about framerate and actual size of game files (ofcourse only if u own the real game ofcourse) etc etc etc

and the main thing, how do u get it to work? I know about the site with that one pse whatever emulator, but the install directions are a bit difficult to understand. Could someone please explain it to me? Thanks

I havent tried it yet. The ps1 ripping process is a bit involved and not something I have tried yet. We have a few ps1 titles floating around here though and I am very interested in giving it a go.. especially if the guy at pocket matrix markets the ps1 controller adapter.

works ok for me. i have trouble with the keymappings and memcards though. i expect if i copy a memcard from my pc it will work. i usually get ~70 fps
if any one can suggest a good screen capture utility i can post a screen shot.
anyway:

the xscale version for windose mobile 2003

unzip it to a directory on your pc.

put your bios image in the bios folder i use scph1001.bin but scph7502.bin would probabily work.

if you have some from a pc emulator put memcards in the memcard folder

next you need an iso of a playstation disc. i used spyro the dragon. see http://pdai.org/~dk/guide/ldrguide.htm for a tutorial . i find that if you use Z compression (not BZ) you get much better frame rates and only loose a couple megabytes. you need to put any files output by pocketiso into the isos directory of the emulator.

to review:
the unzipped emulator should be in a folder called FpseCE (i dont know if the name matters)
you should have put your iso in the isos folder
memcards in the memcard folder
and a bios in the bios folder

now you can copy the whole thing to a sd card. just open up active sync with your axim on the cradle and click explore. then copy the Fpsece directory onto the storage card.

when it finishes find the fpsece exe in file explorer and run it
(on the axim)
go to options->bios->choose bios and tap the bios image you want to use
set usa under options->country
set options->cpu mode to recompiler
goto options->joypad->assign buttons then tap each button on the screen and press the button you want to use on the axim
under options->misc select fps counter, fast boot, frameskip. set the display to landscape (whichever you prefer)
under options->sound i checked enable xa play but i havent yet heard any sound if your fps is low you could disable that.
goto config and save
tap quit and do a soft reset
restart fpsece from the file browser and goto start->start iso and tap your iso file.

What I really want to get going is final fantasy VII. There are a few other ps games I want to try.. but that would be a nice meaty game on my PDA.

Used PS1 games are available pretty cheaply.

Fantastic emulator, and its funny that this runs 10x better than the GBA emulator!

I play wipeout 2097 on it quite frequently, even though its not *quite* fullspeed. Roll on the new version, its much faster and with sound!

Not really that shocking to me. Sony's consoles have hardware that is more like that in a PC/PPC. While Nintendo generally uses less-compatible hardware in their consoles. What does this mean? In basic terms, it means that more hardware emulation is needed for GBA games than for Playstation ones.

Great emulator (Metal Slug X plays great). Might run a lot sloer when sound is enabled.

When I try to run the Gran Turismo iso (compressed according to the guide that was linked above) I just get the fpsce title screen with no menu. I can't exit the program, nor does the file seem to be loading, and inevitably I have to restart. Has anyone experienced this?

yes, once but if i run it after a fresh soft reset it hasnt given me any problems. mabye you dont have enough memory free? just guessing though
