Problem with Phantasy Star IV on Morphgear
Hello all,

For a while, I was trying to use Pocket Genesis on my Axim X30 high and gave up. I saw here everybody uses Morphgear. Well, I've been trying to get Phantasy Star IV to play and it seems to work great up until it goes to a battle sequence. It plays right for the first 5-10 frames and then the screen just goes scrambled. From there, the scrambled will change about every 2-5 seconds and then Morphgear will eventually crash if I let it sit long enough.

I've never troubleshooted an emulator issue on a PDA before, so I'm not sure what to start looking for. Can anybody offer any helpful advice on how to troubleshoot?

Thanks,

Chode

Is there a program besides XCPUSCALAR that will allow me to overclock? When I install that, it seems to think my max speed is 300MHz. Either that or I have to buy it to get higher speeds?

But in any case, even at the higher clock rate it still does the same thing. Any suggestions?

The only other game I have is Thunder Force 3. With sound, its slow. Without sound, it plays like normal. I've disabled as much resource-using features I could find and it still chokes. I'm not so sure its a matter of resources in this case. I could be wrong I guess, but I dunno. Any ideas?

I guess you can disregard this. I just found a thread on Morphgear's site about this same problem. I guess the developer supposedly had plans to overhaul the genesis module, but that has fallen into limbo.

Weak.

Fallen into limbo wouldn't be the word I would say. We've gone open source so that the community (you all) can port any emulator you want via through Morphgear. I too think the current Genesis module we have is pretty bad (I wish I could play my favorite game on the genesis, Exile!) but if you think so too, why not give porting a genesis emulator over to Morphgear a try, we'll help you out if you come into any trouble . I recommended one on the Morphgear Forums, so here's the link again, grab the source file:
http://www.retrobase.net/gensplus/
I'm also going to be getting in touch with the creator of this emulator to see if he'd like to port it to Morphgear (seeing that he told me that he has alot of free time ), we shall see what happens...

If I knew how to code anything beyond basic Mumps coding, you'd better believe I'd give it a shot.
