Emulator's Speeds
Hi,I'm new to this forum, but i must say it rocks!

I found it because i was searching for info before I buy my pocket pc (dell axim x50). I love emulators and one of the reasons i'm buying a pocket pc is because it seems it is a lot better for emulators then my current tungsten E. I've read a lot of posts on this forum about the different emulators, but I still have some questions just to get it all clear.

1. Does de morphgear GBA emulator play games at a playable speed? and is that with or without sound?
2. Is snes emulation on a dell axim x50 playable with sound? or only without?
Nes & gb/gbc should not be a problem i think, because that plays decent on the tungsten E which is only 133 mhz.
Many thnx in advance for any info you guys can give me

Can't help you with those ones... but have you seen Styletap? the Palm emulator for pocket PC

(hows that for coolness in a geeky sort of way)

I have a couple of ROM for SNES that i play regularly with PocketSNES (link) all with sound and playable speed. Buttons kinda suck for game play though. I've been looking for a better BT gamepad for a while with no decent finds...

Oh, ok..the buttons are a problem with most pda's i think, i'll get used to em , you are using the bleeding edge build, is that better then the one with openGL support from tala?. But in any case snes is playable with sound woohoo!
Thnx for the quick replies! , now all i need is someone with some GBA info

1. I think it depends on the game. I play RPGs, and it is definitely playable. And that is without sound.
2. I think it is playable with both, but speed is definitely increased without sound.

Yea. I'm using the bleeding edge build, but I really can't comment on earlier builds. I just got into emulators recently...

Answer to Question 1:
Our Morphgear commercial Module (recquires you to buy for no time limits) of VGBA(Gameboy advance emulator)
works quite well with alot of games. We just found out that Kingdom Hearts and the rest of the 256mb carts/roms now work if you strip them. Here's how in this post:
http://www.spicypixel.com/forum/foru...d=1593&posts=6
I must tell you to grab the gba module soon because we are going to be possibly cutting ties with Marat who makes the Morphgear commercial modules like this one. Hopefully he will make a final update before he goes, this is unsure at the moment but would greatly benefit as it would fix a ton of problems that many are experiencing with the gba module. Some games on the gba module run great with sound on or off (like Warioland 4).
Answer to Question 2:
Our Open-sourced (freeware)Snes module runs just about anything that you can throw at it unlike Tala's OpenGL Pocket Snes. You can play alot more Japanese games (with english patches) on Morphgear and have no graphical problems with games like Star Ocean. I hope that you will visit Morphgear's website and pick it up and try it out. We do get much support from alot of the community and we appreciate it when people still wish us to continue on even when our homesite may be crashing down at any moment with the lights off...
Hopefully this answers your 2 questions reaper_xt !

hey,
thnx for all the replies guys!,you really helped me out a lot. I think that morphgear is the way to go, maybe with pocketsnes on the side just in case. Thnx for the tip DA1Writer, i'm going to try to get the gba module as soon as possible (probably even before i get the pda ). I hope this Marat fellow does finish his new version before you guys stop working together, it would be very nice. I am also going to check out the gapi tweak!

Thnx again everyone!
