Chrono Trigger- Trann Dome, won't display on X50V. Any Ideas?
O.k, I have pocketsnes running on my x50v. Normal version without gapi tweak. Games seem to have been playing just fine. Until now?

I started playing chrono trigger yesterday (was playing fine with good fps) and got as far as Trann dome.

All I see when I enter it though is what's like clouds floating over the screen. I thought this was an fmv sequence that wans't progressing (even though fps was still almost max).

When I checked it out on my pc it seems these clouds are actually a display layer that float over the actual action to create atmospghere. So if you think of the screen as layers built up in the same way a cartoon is with one layer showing bakcgrounds and sprites, and an transparent overlay showing clouds/mist which drifts above the action, all I'm getting is the mist overlay layer??? Does that make sense?

Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be going on?

try the pocketsnes opengl version with the new GAPI 2.0 beta, see if that works.

that's what i keep telling people, PocketSNES still has bugs. Morphgear has been tested and it's almost perfect (some games run slow) and chronno trigger runs fast and we have tested chrono trigger from beginning to the end...
Or you can try what that guy above me said...
Doesn't anybody like my Morphgear ...

Get Tala's OpenGl version of PocketSNES; it works fine with Chrono Trigger, it looks alot better (got a filter on it)and it will also be much faster. If your version of PocketSNES is similar to the opengl version try going into the options and then display and make sure that Transparency Effects are enabled.

Thanks very much for all your help. Have just got a copy of pocketsnes gl thanks to a very king member, will try that out.

Would happily have tried morphgear, but pocket snes seemed easier to use for a noob like myself. No different modules etc.. Also I thought you needed to pay for it and that you needed to use gapi tweak, which I'm not keen on as I believe it affects tomtom which is my main use for my x50v.

Thanks again, I'll report back as to how I get on

What's morphgear? An emulator?

The cloud thing is due to lack of sound, so make sure you have the sound option enabled.

Morphgear is a multi-platform emulator. It can run SNES, NES, GB/GBC/GBA, and a few other things. Go to morphgear.com , and you need to download morphgear AND the snes module (and whatever modules you want to emulate). IMO, Morphgear is the best emulator for ppc.
