Question to Blackberry users, or potential users

Why use blackberry? Just to have "sent using BlackBerry" at the bottom of all sent e-mails? Or is it such a great unit that it outperforms WM5 phones? To be honest, I don't see what makes Blackberry special? I am very interested in Pearl, as it looks like a great, solid and nice-feeling-on-hand phone, but I just don't get why use that operating system over Windows? You have to use propriety cable connection, need to use custom software, and does not have wifi.

As I said, I really like the way the phone looks, and I use my WM5 phone mostly for online and offline maps, some light gaming, mp3 listening, some video watching and taking pictures. Mostly I use it to get my e-mails from my work server pop3. I don't miss push feature, as i just check my e-mails every 30 minutes, and that's more than enough.

Please tell me why you use Blackberry, or why do people like it so much? I am not dissing it, I just want to know.

Thank You!

We have some at work for our 'managers'... and from a support point of view they are great for users who just want to pick up something and not care how it works. All they are used for is mobile outlook and email, and they do that single job very well

Honestly, if every 30 minutes for email and games, videos, etc are onn your list of things to do, I wouldn't get the BB. I have had a 7100 and an 8700. I really liked them. The email was flawless, they worked with much ess fiddling than any of my PPC or even SP units. But the BB os is limiting when it comes to 3rd party apps. I know they re out there, but not like PPC. And I just have too many games to not have a touch screen.

Yeah, I don't worry about touchscreen, since I am very used to the interface of WM5 SP. Thanks for the details.

Biker Dude, since you used blackberry before, what makes them so easy to set up? Is it that you just put your e-mail address and password, and it keeps picking up e-mail and sets up all pop and ports, etc itself? I don't see how could be any easier than setting up e-mail on my phone with POP3. All you need is pop3. or mail. your domain and your password. Really nothing else to it. I am just trying to figure out how it works, and why do people have to pay for "Blackberry" service. Does it gather e-mails from your server for you and send it to your phone or your phone gets them directly from you pop?

Thanks again.

Eh, give me my Treo 700wx any day over a Blackberry. But, to each his own. That is why they make Chevrolet's and Ford's.

I had a palm or two several PPCs and now I have a Blackberry for the business. They work flawlessly and the battery keep its charge for up to 7 days. I drop it on a cement floor and outside in the parking lot. It is still working great and just a little scratch on it. Except for being limited for game and internal storage they are better. My opinion only guys. BTW, I drive a Mitsubishi :approve:
