I don't currently own a Tablet PC, but have been thinking hard on buying one. I would like to see the various manufacturer's beef-up the graphics a bit.

I posted this in another thread, but it probably belongs here. Here is my solution... I have a laptop that I use quite a bit, but when I'm in the office or at home, it is too combersome to walk around with... My answer... the new Panasonic Air Panel. It is a hybrid tablet pc. It has an XScale 400 MHZ processor in it along with the same memor specs as an Axim. However, it has a built in wireless network that allows you to run software off of your PC. It comes in 10" and 15" models. The 15" is under a grand and the 10" is around $700. I'm getting one at the office and will pos a review once I had a chance to use it.

For those who don't want to wait for a larger screen and don't need the full mobility of a laptop, this could be the anwer.

Just my 2!

I don't, but one of the guys in network support at work is running a test of one. It's pretty slick. He's stopped using notepads for taking notes. It's big enough to actually write on, at length (I try to take notes on my Axim, but my hands cramp from operating in such a small space), but not a pain in the butt to lug around like a laptop. I hope the company goes with them 'cause I'm still on the fast track for new toys.

I haven't looked into the Tablet PC's yet....I've seen them but just haven't researched any info on them. I don't even know what the capabilities are with these things. (?)

Still a little "spendy" for me. I've looked into them and sampled about 6 different models at M/S's debut of TabletXP. Still a little new for my liking. I like to let all the early adopters be the bug testers and watch the price drop. I do home inspections on a laptop all day, 6 days a week and am always looking for something that is faster to use. I'm piloting my inspection software on the Ax next week. If it works like I hope, it will cut about 45 min. to an hour off a three hour inspection. Sweeeeet!
Since I work by the job it would be an instant 20-30% raise on an already sinfully good hourly rate.

Work out the bugs? Its Windows XP... Much more robust than Windows CE and WM 2003.... I can understand the price problem, but the OS is rock solid...

I want one too I'm afraid that the Axim has spoilt me and I am now find having to use keyboards and mice VERY irksome. I just want to write on the screen and tap with my stylus pen to use. A conventional PC and even more so a laptop seems so cumbersome and clumsy to use. Saving my pennies now, and hoping that the price tumbles soon.

P.S. The Panasonic Air Panel sounds interesting but as I'm looking to replace my aging PC (its not wireless) I may opt to go whole hog for Tablet PC IF the price improves in line with my budget.

This is what you want...

http://www.motioncomputing.com/

That company was started by some ex Dell management. I have one I ordered for a job site and its way too cool... I'm thinking christmas might come to my house sooner this year than normal.
