That'll be awesome when they add hardware acceleration. Especially if they add support for the axim x50v's intel 2700g.

I really doubt this is going to reach any workable stage.
Quake Mobile is optimized for the 2700g yet it slows to 5 fps in MANY places (heck 90% of the maps). I doubt Quake III will run better than that considering its a heavier more resource hungry engine.

siriusnova you can tweak Quake Mobile although it reduces the quality. I no longer have the slow downs... Quake 3 can be tuned to run on pretty low end hardware as well but it will look ugly, Quake 2 is the way to go!

bah 128mb ram recomended though
Seemed cool but I cant figure out how to use that bash thing... dont think I can even run it on the x50v with my 40mb free though since it sounds like it wants 64 free at least O_O :( that ram upgrade sounds tempting now.

Website updated !
The website was updated with new information:
|
Quote:
|
Version 1.1 - Coming soon!
* Hardware Acceleration - We will be adding direct support for a number of chipsets through OpenGL-ES. Supported plaforms for v1.1 will include the Dell Axim x50v/x51v or greater, with the Intel 2700G chipset. Much of this is possible due to the support of Imagination Technologies. Other platforms may be supported eventually, possibly through a (slower) translation to Direct3d Mobile. I'll have to get my hands on a few WM2005 devices before that can start.
* Software Optimization - We will be converting the entire codebase over to fixed point arithmetic for faster execution on handhelds.
* Memory Auto-tuning - The game should use as little or as much memory as you have available, with a reasoanble lower bound, and a reasonable maximum-usage percentage.
