Astraware's Sudoku is now available! Anyone try it yet? It seems really nice to me, but I haven't trialed the others yet. I'd love to hear from someone who's tried a couple of ones suggested here. Thanks!

Just an update on Astraware's Sudoku. The program is only $9.95 right now. They're advertising that it's half price till the end of November. For that price, I'm sold! I really like it.

I tried Astraware's version right after they announced it. It was my first exposure to the game. But after installing Resco Sudoku, I removed Astraware and registered Resco's. The game seems quite polished, and the skins are quite nice. I think I paid US$10.46 - only $0.50 more than Astraware's special price for a much better looking program.

I went with Astraware because I always trust the extra polish they put on their games. Resco is nice and all, but I just don't have faith there yet.

I don't pay for games (don't play them enough to be worth it!)

I use BunnyHug software
Bunnydoku only $3 shareware

It takes a bit of getting used to and doesn't solve for you but is CHEAP and has lots of puzzles from way too simple to quite difficult

Sodoku Solver is nice. And it's freeware. :approve:

It generates its own puzzles for different difficulty levels.

Or you can enter your own puzzle.

Can I ask how you got that price? I did a search for Sudoku on Handango's site (which I recently read here at Aximsite was greatly improved)and Resco's version didn't even come up. I'd thought I was comparing all the Sudoku's when I purchased Astraware's version. Anyway, I found the Resco version (after more recent posts in this thread mentioned it and I searched on Resco). It looks really nice, I just wish I found it sooner. Handango has it for $15.00.

any free sudoku programs? I don't really want to spend money on one, but it would be fun to play once in a while (kinda like a play minesweeper once in a while)

I downloaded this program, but I can't seem to install it. Their web site said that I needed embedded visual basic runtime, so I downloaded that as well. I unzipped both programs, but how do I go from there to getting the Sudoku Solver installed on my X5?

I believe you need to execute the Microsoft VB runtime to install that.

For Sudoku, just copy the sudoku.vb file from your PC to a folder on your PDA (even on a storage card), and then create a shortcut to this .vb file, and put it in your /Windows/Start Menu.

I'm sure at some point, the developer will create a self installing executable, but at this point you need to do it manually.

I've written to the developer yesterday, and he is actively improving this game right now. If you can think of improvements, send him an email. :)

Sorry for my ignorance, but I have never had to install anything manually. What do you mean by "Execute the Microsoft VB runtime?" I downloaded that file (zipped), and I unzipped it. There were lots of files in there, but no executable. How do I execute it?

I also tried to copy (by dragging and dropping from within Windows Explorer) the Sudoku.vb file to both the Program Files section of my PDA and to the CF card, but it doesn't show up as being in either place. Is there a way I can use Active Sync to copy the file to the PDA? Thanks for the help.
