Problems with all SNES / NES Emulators LOW Framerate Dell X50V
Hi @all.
I'm New here.
My English is not so good but I hope that you can understand me. :)
I just bought a new Axim X50V german version with WIN 2003 SE.
I tried to run NES and SNES Emulators but they are all too Slow.
I get 5 - 10 frames.
What Emulators do you all X50V guys use and what settings ?
THX.
Greetings from germany.

PocketSNES, it also has an OpenGL version it runs around 40-50 FPS for me with sound in most games although some are slow. I reccommend trying the
Donkey Kong Country series, it gets good framerates and looks good

You should try morphgear ( www.morphgear.com), and download the modules you want (this is seperate from the initial download and is under "step 2"). SNES is free, but NES (on morphgear) is $20 USD. It should work corectly right after you install it (it did on my x50v). Also, SNES runs full speed for the most part.
Also, your english is perfect, probably better than mine :P

Morphgear is far worse when it comes to emulating SNES games.

Ok I tried Morphgear and the games run very fast (50 - 60 fps) but I have no Sound.
EDIT: I have Sound now and the game speed is average. Only 19-23 FPS. Can I get more frames out ?
(tested game: battletoads Double dragon)
Now I need a NES Emulator. :)

You could turn on frame skip to get better speed. Also you could go to Morphgears forums, and they have several tweaks to get more out. Like using directraw buffer, and setting thread priority up slightly.

There's an improved version of PocketNester for NES emulation linked in my sig.
It sounds like you're not using Emulamer's GAPI tweak, which can improve game performance in most cases. Sometimes it causes incompatabilities however. Do a search (i believe its got a couple sticky threads in the x50 forum too.)

Jon, does your version happen to utilize the 2700g or is it just optimized for the x50v's quirky/crappy GAPI utilization? If it does use the 2700g, i would gladly add it to the sticky for those type of games.

It doesn't use GAPI at all. It uses GetRawFramebuffer, which is the preferred way of doing it on a VGA device. However, it does not use the 2700g as I'm not up on my OpenGL programming. Someday. This is more like Emulamer's version of PocketSNES before Tala did the opengl version.
I think it does a simple text compare on the device type to see if its an x50v, there's no reason it shouldn't work on the x51v, but I think it will default to GAPI there until the code is altered.
