I dont completely agree with the trading factor
you just have to know exactly what they want...
and if you land on a spot that you want to monopolize
and someone already owns one, do this before
you buy it, goto raise cash, and trade .. you
can buy the one already owned for maybe 10$ more
then what he paid for it, you can do this because
the AI does not know what spot you are on,
and does not know right after you trade you
will own two of that property... anyway...
the AI "is" very very limited.... they are not too
bright,.. I think it could be better for a 30$ piece
of software
i still play it all the time

Trades can be done with computers, but they only accept lobsided ones or ones that will favor them. Especially if it will help them gain all the cards for a color.
If you like it buy it. By trying to cheat the venders will only hurt the user. If they dont have enough people buying/using their product they might discontinue the line

I've tried Monopoly, and found that it is WAY too easy.
First, you can buy any 3 monopoly property or railroad from the computer players for $10 over list price provided that it does not give you a monopoly. Mediterranian/Baltic for $80, or utilities for $200, not sure about Boardwalk/Park Place.
Second, if you trade a property that will give a computer player a monopoly, they will trade anything provided you give them enough money. Make sure to get a utility. Then trade that utility and a pile of cash to the player that owns the other utility for all their properties. You can get a lot of monopolies that way.
My strategy is to get at least one of every color by landing on them or buying them from other players. Be sure to get one utility, not both. Once you do that, there is no way for the computer players to win. You may need to mortgage just about everything to do this. I also get 3 railroads right away (and with luck 4, but you have to land on the 4th). This gives you a more income. I don't mortgage these. After that, I trade my utility and some cash to the player with the other utility for a property to make a mononopoly. Then I get it up to hotels as soon as I can and the game is pretty much over.
Does anyone know if the AI is the same for all the computer players?
Scrabble allows you up to four players, as does Monopoly. I love Scrabble. It is one of my favorite games. You have the option of also installing the Scrabble dictionary, and if you play against the computer, you can choose the level of difficulty.
Continuing to derail a Monopoly thread with Scrabble stuff, but the difficulty levels on Scrabble seem a bit screwed up. Easy level has the computer playing 2-3 letter words all the time, and Medium level playing 6-7 letter words all the time. Lord knows what Hard level does...
And to get back on Monopoly, it is pretty darn fun. Trades are difficult, but if you offer boatloads of cash and lots of properties, they may bite.
I have heard that monoply is one of the best games for pocket pc. Is the game really challenging and does it take up a long time to play. One more thing is it capable of playing 2 players???? :crooked:
I own the "Offical" version of Monapoly, I like the play a "short" game last approx 40 min.
It is enjoyable but highly automated, I would have liked to see more user interaction in the game.
You can play up to four "people" in a game, any combination of human and computer players.
You can connect two (or more ??) ppc together with bluetooth, although I have not done so. I am wondering if each of the ppc need the game installed inorder to play, but have found no one who knows.
I enjoy the game graphics which I think are very good, I also enjoy their Scrabble game as well.

I have an Axim X5A and an Axim X50v and have been trying to use the beam game function . So far all it has done is lock up the X5. Has anyone had any success with beaming monopoly games?
Hi dick. I have sucessfully beamed a game from one X50v to another.. however, it is implemented very poorly. For example, you must acknowledge each turn by hitting the Beam button after you go AND as you are taking your turn... the other person has NO idea what you are doing. you then BEAM your turn info to the person so they have the updated game data... but you still have no idea of the moves the other person made.
I guess I was hoping when you "beam" a game... you basically connect to that person in they see the game taking place (your turn and your playmates) in "real" time.. not after the fact.
The final straw that stopped me from trying this further... you can even play the others persons turn and do what you want.. and then beam the info back to the other person... ARGGhh.. definitely a cludged way of implementing multiplayer.
Oh.. and you do need the software on both devices.. but the same serial # works on each... I like the single player though... the AI is just ok - I win against 2 computer players about 85% of the time... options are limited (like no way to turn auctions off and if a player goes bankrupt.. you get all their assets.. makes winning the game near impossible should another player bankrupt someone else).
