Awesome new RPG worth checking out
Hey guys not sure if it's been posted or not but EDGE has finally been released. This was a game I followed the development of closely during my palm days but lost contact with when I migrated to ppc. Well it's finally been released and the cool thing is the developer made special effort to make sure it was compatible with ppc via styletap. He even includes installation directions specifically for ppc users. I've been playing it the last couple days and it works flawlessly...even on my x50v upgraded to wm5 in true vga mode...now that's saying something because not a lot of software has worked for me.
Anyways if you're a fan of isometric rpgs (a la diablo) definetely give this one a go and support an awesome developer. It's a bit pricey but I think it's well worth it. :approve:

Great RPG Game, Edge, Finally Released! A Review & Tutorial
I've just posted a tutorial (and a mini-review) on setting up Edge, which has finally been released, to http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/ind...3&p=349&more=1 . If you want to have a really good RPG game on your (preferably VGA) Pocket PC, make sure you read it.

The screenshots look great. But I sure do wish they'd just do a straight port to PPC so we wouldn't have to utilize Style Tap.

Will this run on my 400 mhz X3?
EDIT: I've downloaded the trial version and styletap, but I can't get it to extract. I have winzip, and I have renamed the file to .zip, but when I extract I only get one file, not the three you got. Anyone help?
I noticed that I don't think i was able to delete the .exe. I think it is .zip.exe, which might explain it. How do I delete the .exe?

Hmmm.. I am new to StyleTap and this whole process so bear with me if I ask stupid questions :hide:
You've got StyleTap installed on your X3, right?
You downloaded the .zip file of EDGE?
I opened StyleTap on my PC and dragged the 3 .prc files from the zip file to StyleTap and installed them. Now I just have to figure out where to put the sound files because I'm just not getting it from the installation instructions. I did get the game to run and it looks great! Now if I could just get some sound.

You put all the ogg files into this directory on your sd card:
/Palm/Programs/Edge/Sound

Did you download the right version of the file? There is an exe version and a zip version. Us ppc users should dl the zip version as it is much easier to install.

Thanks! I just found this on their forum :) Now I have sound.
This looks pretty promising. It's just too bad that I have no interest in purchasing StyleTap at $30 and then turning around and paying $25 for EDGE. Guess I'd better get busy before my trial expires.

I wrote a tutorial about 3 weeks ago, and its in mypda (link in sig). I don't know if anyone has read it, but I tried to make it easy to understand.
Also if you downloaded the wrong one, all you need to do is change the file extension to zip, and it will extract just like any other zip file (great tip for dial-up users who downloaded the wrong one :approve: )

After getting tired of the emulator, I've been playing the game on my Palm Zire71 since yesteerday. It's MUCH better on the Zire71 than even on my VGA PL720, despite the Zire71's having a slow CPU... I think anyone that really wants to play this game may want to consider getting a second-hand HiRes PDA.

Yea I installed it to my old T3 (which I still consider the best handheld ever) and it runs remarkably better than my x50v. The graphics even look sharper but I guess that's because of the x50v's high resolution which washes things out. Anyways I'll be watching for improvements on the ppc/styletap platform...hopefully he'll release a ppc version.
