Heart Quake Mobile

Hey gang,

OK well - you asked and yee shall receive. We recently made available a patch (for those of you that have already purchased Quake Mobile) that enables stylus support. If you didn't already receive an email from Handango then email me and I'll send it over to you directly. If you haven't purchased it yet, then the patch is already built in to the game.

In addition, we just posted the two Quake Mobile expansion packs as well. There's no description up on the site yet for them, but that's because I manually typed the entire freakin' manuals and Handango didn't allow that much text so I had to email them about it. Don't worry, they'll be up soon but I just wanted to let everyone know. These are the exact same expansion packs as the PC version in case anyone was wondering: Expansion Pack 1, The Scorge of Armagon and Expansion Pack 2, Dissolution of Eternity.

Here's my email addy if you need the patch. Please don't send me random, "hey cool game but...." emails as I do receive about 150 emails per day and emailing me would just prevent me from posting stuff in future. If you do like the game, please write a review on Handango's site and give it a great rating.

Thank you and best regards,
-Paul

I actually didnt expect all expansion packs to be free, especially if these are the same paks that were sold separately (and are the same) on the pc.

I expect you could download free paks on the web and use them

Why would you expect them to be free? When the PC version of Quake came out the expansion packs for them weren't free either.

The expansion packs are like another whole game all to themselves. We had to do just as much work on them as the original Quake Mobile and since this is a business, we do need to recoup our development costs. Sorry if you feel the price is too high.

Are you joking? With todays gas prices how do you expect Carmack to afford to fill up his Ferraris, you know they only get 5 mpg or so...

You expect them to do all of the work that it takes to develop these for free? It seems like a very reasonable price to me.

Hi, this may seem a dumb remark, I may have missed something, but what use would it be using expansion packs on the web or ones that were bought originally if there needed to be a lot of work done on the ones that are being now sold as addons? I would have thought they would need recoding and tweaking to optomise them for use on a PPC.
I do understand the need to recoup investments in the time given in developing software like this, especially in a relatively small market as compared to the PC, (though I feel this will change as the devices get more powerful), but pricing is an art in itself, and sales will reflect whether they got it right or not. I myself might buy the original game, but the addon prices are too high for an old retired quake veteran like me.

Hi guys. My 1GB SD card is getting short of space but I really loved quake on the pc. How much space does the game+addons occupy?

I agree 100%. I can see paying for the original game, and for the licensing of the addons, but seriously, all they have to do is run a few repackaging scripts on the Expansion packs, and Poof! They are done. I'd rather find an ancient copy of the packs myself for like a dollar and rip those. $15 is too much for simply an expansion pack.

I still think the game has a long way to go even compared to the FREE quake3 that was released. if u enable showturtle in your config (might be show_turtle 1) U will see when the FPS slows to a crawl.
