Question Embedded Visual Basic Runtime

I apologize if this a stupid question but, I am new and that's my excuse. I am trying to install Warring States on my Axim x30h and have found that I need the "eMbedded Visual Basic Runtime" installed first. I have tried following links to the Microsoft website for the runtime but get a "page not found" message. Can anyone tell me how/where I get this? Any special installation help you can offer?

Thanks in advance.

Microsoft likes to move this page around for some reason and many older links fail. The new address is http://msdn.microsoft.com/mobility/w...loads/evb.aspx

Ok, so now I have downloaded the runtime, how do I use these files? There is no setup or .exe to run. I don't know where I put the files or how I install the program. Help?
I'm not sure if this matters but the warring states download appears as a dos executable. If I click on it, a DOS window opens, then closes again.

Note that, as opposed to the older eVB releases, this can also be installed to a storage card. BTW, I've posted a tutorial (and also the URL problem) some days ago to my blog ( http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/ind...ion_you&more=1 )

Just a little update... Thanks for your help everyone. I installed the cab file and got Warring States installed. BTW, its worth the effort, if you have not tried it out yet. Thanks again.

Warring States is a strategy game. Here's the description from the download page:
"Description:
Warring States is a turn based strategy game developed especially for Pocket PC.

The game takes place in the Warring states period (464-222 BC) in China.

During this period a multitude of independent states were almost constantly at war with each other to achieve supremacy and hopefully build an empire.

As ruler of one of these states, your ultimate goal is to conquer all states in order to unite them into one empire with one ruler, the Emperor of China.

During the fight for supremacy you must lead your army into battle, collect taxes from your people, discover new inventions and fight against terrible invaders and local rebellions.

But beware, your opponents will try to capture you as soon they have a chance and, if you don't find the elixir of life, you won't live forever.

In Warring States you can choose among 8 different rulers to play, up to 4 computer opponents that follows the same rules as you and three levels of difficulty.

Random starting positions together with a multitude of random events makes every game different and the best thing of all: Warring States is completely free."

You can download it here:

Here's your answer....

Per the Microsoft website:

Quote:
eMbedded Visual Basic is not supported from Pocket PC 2003 onwards although the runtime is available as an unsupported download from Microsoft. While the runtime will install on Pocket PC 2003 and Pocket PC 2003 Second Edition, it will not install or run on future Windows Mobile devices.
This means that WM5 does not support eVB, which is probably why you're receiving an error message. Don't worry though...Warring States is a good game initially, but it'll lose your interest within a short amount of time. At least it lost mine.

WM5 does support eVB. I had no problems running for example the eVB-based PocketCHAT under WM5. See http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/ind...and_wm5&more=1 for my WM5 compliance tests.

It is. Are you sure you've followed the right link?

I'm trying to install the Funambol Pocket PC client on my X50v with WM5
