I'll think you'll find that these types of emulators are illegal. Long live this thread and your account.

emulators of any kind are perfectly legal, although I am not able to explain how they are so, maybe because nintendo copyrights its hardware but emulators are only software that mimics the hardware.

However, it is the roms that are illegal. If you don't have the game and you download the rom, you are breaking the law, even if you delete it after 5 minutes.

I'm sure all emulators are legal, as long as you're not making a profit out of them. Selling a GBA emulator would REALLY piss Nintendo off.

So long live FREE emulators.

It's the ROMs that can be illegal.

I have a test build of PocketGBA that works on the X50v - the regular build doesn't seem to work. If anyone wants it, PM me.
DO NOT PM me for ROMs though. If you do, I'll kill you. :)

It runs very well without sound, and reasonably with sound. Either way, its 10 times better than MorphGear's GBA module. :)

Sorry! Didn't mean to cause offense or even attack MorphGear viciously.

To be honest, I probably know nothing about the legality of emulators compared to you. I was just speaking without thinking much, I guess.

IMHO, MorphGear's a great product, in terms of NES, Game Boy, Game Gear and SNES emulation, but there's so much improvement that could be made, and nothing new has happened in ages... so obviously people are going to use alternatives that work better - even better when free to start with...

I wasn't kidding when I said that the new PocketGBA was 10x better. The sound isn't all corrupted as in MorphGear - even though it's laggy, at least it sounds right. PocketGBA is definately better than the Morph Module.

MorphGear has to be hacked in order for it to run on an X50v properly... surely that isn't right? That's a very, very minor thing that could be fixed by someone in a day or two. It's awkward and difficult to use on an X50v because of disappearing toolbars and flickering etc.

No offense, but MorphGear is gathering dust and needs a revival. Why doesn't anyone work on it? I thought it had gone open source or something.

Anyway, I didn't mean to offend, just wanted to point it out to people who don't realise that MorphGear is unfortunately severely flawed...

No offense taken my friend :approve: ! That was merely a joke of mine with the last post.

Yes, Morphgear has of course been gathering dust these past months. Bluetrane is currently *trying* to do an update to Morphgear. When and IF he'll release is entirely up to his discretion. I won't put up some high hopes for anyone though as everytime i do, I get shot down by Bluetrane or my boss Aaron.

With Morphgear becoming open- source, we had high hopes that people would jump unto it. Turning the 7 modules we include for Morphgear and getting it expanded tremendously was a huge dream for us. Our dreams though fall to the wayside with potential people who started doing something with the source code but then disappearing off the scene. New people want to try to give it a go but i can sense that because the source code is more like reading the Rosetta Stone, I doubt anyone will even try at all.

I wish i could try out this PocketGBA though, I've been hearing so many cool things about it and wish i could try it myself. My Pocket PC is currently my mirror at my toilet, not able to get {my Dell Axim X50v} away from the "Blue Dell Logo" Screen of Death . Hopefully people will help me out in my thread, I am trying everyones suggests wholeheartedly and doing research myself as well. Until then, I hope everyone enjoys this new program that has come out.

Note- May want to mention that CeRial has released updates to his awesome Wolfenstein 3D and Spear of Destiny Ports. Yeah... I know that those are not emulation for roms but they are part of emulation... kinda ;)...

It's pretty tragic that MorphGear isn't getting the attention and support it needs.

Thanks for clearing all that up though. :)

Woo! Thanks for letting me know about Wolf, too. I've been waiting for a good solid Wolf3D port. Do you know if CeRial is continuing work on PocketUAE aswell?

I'M IMPRESSED!!! I just tried this emulator and I am very surprised at how well it works. Some slowdown in some games but how can you complain...very nice.
