Is MegaMAME working on your Axim ?
Hey guys, anyone else having a problem with MegaMAME ? It never starts on my Axim. I have enough memory free, so this is not the problem........MAMECE works like a charm though (with all its 100 games )
Anyone else having the same problem ?

20 views, and not one of you has tried MegaMAME ? :p
I could send an e-mail to the developer, but there are already a couple similar problems posted, that havent also been answered, so I dont think the developers really look at their forum.....

So do I, thats why I wanted to run it on the Axim, and even bought the SD card ;)
Anyway, just stroll over to http://www.mameworld.net/mamece3/, and download the ARM version (obviously :D) of the MegaMAME (its the second item, first one is the "normal" MAME). MAMECE has about 100 games, MegaMAME has more than 1000 (hence my desire to make it work.......)

I got it running On mine Axim (400)...but its a bit tricky...took two or three reboots for it to work..I had to lock down the memory..(if you go to the memory option and move the bar to increase the amount of mem given to programs (not all the way ...you have to leave 3-4 mbs storage) , then tap the slider , it locks it in place )
before it'd run...also I cold only get it working when the test rom was stored under my\documents .. lastly I tried one or two roms to test and most of them bombed out (black screen for 310 secs or so then back to menu)....pacland seemed to run anyway ..s l o w l y ....
Off topic I know but, windgo ...does it run well on a DC?? do you need to get the DC chipped??
might buy a 2nd hand one if its easy enough to get working ...

Alright, since I am planning on installing the A03 update, might as well try again the MegaMAME, just to see if it works on mine......
And I already have a DC. I will search of course, but how can you make MAME run on DC ? Think I'll visit MAME site one more time......;)
......never mind, I found both sites with MAME for DC. I just got to do a little fiddling with my CDRW in order to find out how to burn DC discs......

I've been pretty busy lately and I don't have a mem card for the axim yet.. so I havent tried out MAME on there yet. I suspect it'll run horrible too. BTW, for DC -- you dont need any special settings or programs to burn the discs. Just do it like a data CD. The best platform for MAME tho is by far the Xbox. It runs really well on there but some games can't load. But that's expected with any console and it's still early in the developement.
Let me know if it runs ok and what games that are good will work with it. Also how are the controls? I can't stand using the Axim's buttons usually. They are horrible.

Well, I can only speak about MAMECE, because thats what I have installed on my Axim. Its got about 100 games, all of them rather old (newest game is 1943), and these all run extremely well. In fact, some of them have to be underclocked in order to be playable........
The best platform for MAME is.......the PC of course!!!! All games run, and 99% of them run perfectly ;) A friend of mine has all but 3 :crooked: roms for the latest MAME, and I intend to leach it of him
Anyway, if anyone else has any luck making MegaMAME to work, please share the info......I tried the trick with the memory bar, but no luck.......

Well, I got BatteryPack running, but it shouldnt take up more than 1MB max.....as for what file I used, is there any other file ? :D I simply ran the MegaMAME.exe, which was installed in the same directory as MAMECE......
To tell you the truth, it has to be a memory issue, since the program seems to start, but all I get (in the best case) is a black screen. Otherwise, I get just the "Loading" cursor....
I'll take a look again, and let you know about the version of ActiveSync once I get home. All I can tell you is that I tried it on A00, and I'm also going to try it now on A03.......

MegaMame worked well for me until I did the ROM upgrade. It quit working when I went from A01 to A02, so I removed it. Have not tried it using A03, but I'm guessing whatever broke it on 02 is still there.

mamece vs megamame?
:rolling: Whats the difference and which is BEST?
Haven't installer either, but want to today. Installed 'pocketnester' wasn't impressed with graphics, 'old school' stuff, but was nice to play a FOOTBALL game for a change. Anybody make a good football game for pocketPC?
I know 2 questions, but I do type with 2 fingers!
