Here's a config that will let you exploit quake mobile so you can finally have a proper control scheme. Most noticably the Left and right buttons stafe left and right instead of turning. and the colored buttons on the right are now mapped to weapons. And is using stylus input, because it's the only way to go.
Edit this file to your desires with a text editor and replace the config file on your PPC under your quake directory \Quake Mobile\id1\
Also note that you can easily pull up the console by pressing the home button now. But unless U have a keyboard, it's pretty much useless. You might want to replace that binding with something more useful such as "god" or "give all"
Cheers People,

I LOVE YOU. The stafe left and right was exactly what I was looking for!
Here is my version, it adds two handed qwerty keyboard support (WASD for moving/strafing, IJKL for looking, etc), as well as the record button being god toggle and the wifi button being give all weapons...
I can't open the autoexec file though, it's not a text file, so how can I over write it or make another file of that same type, i thought configs were mostly made in notepad and then just saved with .cfg at the end?

they are. I don't know what exactly your problem is but all I did to get it working was right click on the cfg file link in the first post of the thread, click save as, and drag the file over to my quake install directory (ID1 folder I beleive) and it says do you want to overwrite and I clicked yes. Then I opened quake and it worked.
