Mahjongg Program

I'm looking for a Mahjongg program that will run under WM 5.0 on my Axim X51v. Has anyone found one (preferably free!) which is compatible with WM 5.0?

Good Mahjongg Program

I posted a thread earlier about a good Mahjongg program, but it was in the wrong forum. It was moved by the moderator, but again to the wrong forum! So here goes again ...

I am looking for a good Mahjongg program which will run under WM 5.0 on my Axim X51v. If it's free, it's even better. :)

SmartMahjongg has been recommended. Any others?

Thanks!

Have you tried Mahjongg Rivers? It doesn't specifically state WM5.0 support but it's worth a try. You used to have to pay for it, but they made it freeware a few months ago.

Failing that, PDAmill's Mahjongg game is WM5 compatible and 50% off over the Christmas period. ;-)

Thought I would respond back to this thread in case anyone else is looking for a good mahjongg program. I was wanting something as close to the PC version of Kyodai that I could find.

I used the replies in this thread and looked extensively myself. I wanted playability and great legible graphics. I weeded out lots of games by just deciding I didn't like the screenshots that were displayed in their ads. I narrowed it down to three games:

PDAmill's Gamebox Asia
Probably the most polished, but the tiles are too small! Also, it only plays in landscape mode, or it did in the demo version (or else I was too dense to find a setting)

Pocket Jongg
While it would install, I could never get it to play. I wanted to try it since it had a tiltable board, like Kyodai.

Shanghi Essentials by Land Ware
The most realistic mahjongg game (or at least what I'm used too). The tiles are large enough to see and it is easy to see tile stack height (which was hard to do in Gamebox Asia). The only gripe I have is that the graphics for the tiles aren't razor-sharp. While I have VGA graphics on my Axim X51v, the tiles appear to be in QVGA. This isn't a major problem, especially after you get playing. It's only an annoyance.

After trying them out, I decided that Shanghi Essentials is the best. It is one of the few games I am willing to pay for. :)

Google "Peter's Gamebox 2.5"

It has includes decent Mahongg implementation. You want version 2.5... the current version is no longer freeware.

No idea if it will work with WM2005... but the price is right, and it's not a large download.

Here's one link that might work: http://www.pocketpccity.com/software...14-ce-ppc.html

Edit: also came across this; might be interesting. I'm going to try it!
