Ok... kinda new to the PDA thing, recently purchased a Axim X51V as there really not all that expensive at all for college lectures, and gaming during the really interesting lectures :D
Anywho...
I was wondering if someone could give me a brief description of what needs to be done to convert a old game to PPC Compatibility.
Is there a emulator for this?
The specific game I am tring to get to work's specs are
* P90mhz or faster, P120mhz recommended
* 16MB RAM minimum, 32MB Recommended
* DirectX certified SCGA card
* DirectX certified sound card
* Windows® 95, 98, 2000 or ME
* 30MB of Hard Drive Space minimum
* 4X or faster CD-ROM drive
* 100% Microsoft-compatible mouse
The game is verry easily controlable 100% with just the mouse. Its Fallout 2, its old, it has a BIG file size (around 600mb... but so is my music on it), but It would keep me busy as I am a HUGE Fallout fan, probably for however long I keep the PDA and I think others would enjoy it also.
I did search on all kindsa "making game compatiable with PPC" diferent ways of putting that and didnt come up with anything so if there is a thread about this already I apologise.
I have a 1gb CF card so plenty of room for it on there.
Right now we only have a DOS emulator....You could try it, but I have no idea how to get it to work....Sorry...

There are DOS emulators out there, some of which are quite good, but none are good enough to run anything beyond Windows 3.0 successfully so I would say that you are probably out of luck. There have been a few people who have managed to load Windows 98 on a DOS emulator but I don't believe they ever succeeded in getting the mouse to work properly (and I believe it took 15 minutes or more to load, so you can imagine how well it would run a 600mb game).
I will look for a few Dos Emulators then and try it out... although expect a loading of that kind of time isnt to good. If it works I will post so, if not then I'll post that also.
Already copied it to a CF card (That took forever), just going out to find a DOS emulator now.
A dos emulator should be enough for Dune II or the early lucasarts (xwing, dark forces, indiana jones, etc) and sierra (all the quest games, day of the tentical) classics. Has anyone tried any such games? If so Ill go into my basement and dig out these out and go buy a floppy drive so I can actually access the disks.

Haven't tried those specifically, but I have been playing games such as Bard's Tale Series, Eye of the Beholder II, Frontier (Elite 2) and Championship Manager under n0p's port of DOSBox.
Well the Fallout2 didnt work... or atleast I couldnt get it to work. I used PocketDOS (demo) and pDOSbox for tring this.
Now that you mention it about the older games that does sound interetsing. I have a bluetooth wireless keyboard so I should be abel to play them with that. I have never returned a game I bought since I was a kid as I always find new interest in them again... if it just takes a long time. I will hav to look into this and see if any of those work.
Wolfenstien (the 1991 3d one, not the 1980's one) and Spear of Destiny (it's sequel), Rist of the Triad also... and have to look for some older RPG's. Thunderscape is a REALLY old one that might work (that I can think of off the top of my head) Most really old are in storage though as I am in college now (10 years after I left highschool I changed my mind :| ) so I wont have a huge selection but will try some for this :D
I've got till the 9th when college starts back up so I have some time to play with.
You can use SCUMM for LucasArt stuff, if that's any help.

Yes, almost everything I tried didnt work directly do the PPC. BUt searching for them and the term "PPC" in it led me to quake and Wolfenstein and Spear of Destiny for PPC. Since I have all these on my shelf already I just add the main system files and BAM a full game.
Anywho, thx for the help with everything. I have now more than enough to keep me busy during those "interesting" classes at college now :D
