Does any one around the forums believe that a port of Diablo II(the best game ever) or even Diablo I(The even bester game ever) could be ported to ppc? It seems simple enough but as the saying goes, "Things are often not what they seem.". If any one has heard any news or anything about this please post it here.
Edit:(FPSE does not support WM5 right now. I am using my dad's IPAQ for just testing right now(Accutally I found that problems with Axim's are common, and so are WM5, but It is not totally imcompatiable. I do have it running on my Axim X51 now but with many problems. Mostly BIOS issues. Better to run on other devices like IPAQ's) After this long thread I have discorved that I can have Diablo(the first one) on my PPC. I enjoy it very much. Here is my last post and instructions:
In conclusion I will write a short guide on how to play Diablo anywhere.
Needed Materials:
Diablo PS Cd
PSM Play v3(
PocketISO
PSXLDR
FPSE CE
On the last note you need to get the BIOS for a PS. English is SCPH1001 bios. You will have to find it on your own(thx google, also searching rapidshare.de will turn you up with some good results. I ended my search there.)
Special thanks to:
falerus-Thanks for the help
lubvic-Great idea for the PS emulator

I highly doubt it. Diablo has too high a graphics level for the PPC to ever play it. You would also need the source code for diablo, which i dont believe the writers will release.

It's certainly possible. Specs don't look so demanding, however it doesn't run on DOS, but on windows 95, thus it would require someone with lots of expertise to do the port- it also has been run off linux. So the port may be easier, there is an article on how to port linux to psp over at pspupdates, maybee someone with more knowledge than I, could modify it and repost it explaing how to get linux to ppc.
Alright, let me rephrase. Possible, yes, probable, no. You still need to either emulate windows 95 or linux, which would be extremely slow to begin with, and next having to play Diablo ontop of that is insane. If you wanted to get a direct port without emulating an OS, youd need the source code of the program, and also someone would need to spend a lot of time to port it. Unfortunately, you wont be seeing Diablo for a very long time.

As a longtime player of blizard games I can tell you the ONLY way the Diablo II or diable will be running under PPC is under emulation. Blizzard is anal about people porting their games w/o their consent. On the plus side, I hear emulation on windows 95/98 is coming along nicely so it may not be far off :D
First of all, it must be a completely ripped version.
I can't even think of having all those equipment, monsters, maps, sounds
etc. in my pda. After all, it is a 2CD game.
And once you start ripping diablo2, it is not diablo2 anymore. It is
diablo1.5 or maybe diablo1.2 but not diablo2.
And then, I still have doubts. The gameplay in diablo is not something
you can handle with a limited pda input. All the action going at once
and you wont even have quick keys for spells and skills.
The only option, I believe, is to start from scratch and create a
Diablo 0.5. And then, I won't play it, because it will be so boring.

Here, Here! I totally agree. A game that intense could never be duplicated onto PPC w/o losing almost everything that made it great in the first place!
What a good time to give tribute to Blizzard though!! What would I have done w/o Starcraft, Diablo, and the Warcraft series? Especially now when you can go to Best Buy and get the WHOLE Starcraft series (with expansion packs) for around 20 USD.
Did they also make the Command and Conquer series?!?
I think you could probally use the four buttons or the scrolling thing. I feel that you could probally could get a decent amount of control. If you impliment a touch pad on the screen or something combined with the buttons their is sufficent control for good playability.

Diablo II on a PPC.
I'd be like a crackhead with a never-ending rock.
I had to wean myself off of it once already.
It would be devastating to my personal and business life if I got hooked again.
But if they made it I'd be the first in line to buy it!
Peace
Peter
