pressing so HARD on Undercroft

I downloaded a game demo of Undercroft for my X51V. It looks ok but when I first tried to tap the icons I figured that it just wasn't working. But they do work, I just have to REALLY press hard. Is this just not designed for a 640*480 screen so the button area is actually smaller than it looks and I just have to hit the right place? Doesn't seem to be consistent.
