Virtual Pool Mobile updated: WM5, VGA and Intel 2700g support!
Virtual Pool Mobile, probably the most spectacular billiard game for the Pocket PC, has just been updated to support WM5, VGA and, what is more, the Intel 2700g graphics co-processor in the Dell Axim x50v/x51v.
I've tested the game on the latter (an x51v). It's indeed spectacular and has almost no 3D rendering-related bugs. The trial version of the game is indeed worth a try if you have an x50v/x51v.

How new is this update? I already bought the VPM x50v/x51v optimized version almost a month ago.
Trust me, I do know the difference between the original version and the optimized version too, so no newb allegations. :realmad:
Yup, but they have only now announced its being available on the interntional PPC boards - see the PocketGamer frontpage ( http://www.pocketgamer.org/homeindex.php ).

I've had VPM for about a year now and it is really excellent. I don't get much chance to go play on the tables - VPM is a great alternative and, yes, it does help you improve your technique on the real tables!

I'm there. VPM is one very addicting passtime. One word of warning... use the button interface for the pool cue. I made a dead spot on my screen sweeping the stylus on one spot repeatedly during many late nights of playing. Luckily, it was covered under warranty.

I have been playing quite a bit. I don't normally use the hardware button for the pool cue but I do have a screen protector. I can see the scratches on the screen protector where I use the stylus for the pool cue.
If anyone does decide to get this game, make sure that you are using a screen protector or you will regret it later on.
Indeed it's the non-2700g VGA version that's brand new - just checked the internal filedates in C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync\Virtual Pool Mobile\VPMobileTrialPPC.SA.cab (the standard PPC version - which is VGA on VGA devices) and C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync\Virtual Pool Mobile GLES\VPMobileGLESTrial.SA.cab (the 2700g-enabled version).
The new "standard" PPC version has internal filedates dating back just a few days and has native support for all VGA devices. It is running great on my Pocket Loox 720. It uses in-game VGA resolution and not much more jerky than on my x51v. Really cool game on any VGA Pocket PC!
