How would I do a game portal
Ok. I would like to know how I would go about porting an older dos game over to pocket pc...
I have a game I used to love playing on DOS called Seawolf SSN-21. I would like to know what software I would need to be able to do this, I dont care if it takes me a year to do. This game would be great for my x5. Any help would be appreciated.

Since it's a DOS game, why not use DOSBox to simply emulate it on your X5? It sounds like you just want to play it and not go through the arduous exercise of reverse-engineering a game.

If I use a DOS emulator would it allow me to use the touch screen feature like I was using a mouse?
This game is able to be played with either a keyboard or a mouse. I prefer the mouse method..

well. I tried installing the game with pocket dos, but it was a no go. It would not install the game to play... plus the fact that even though it was a dos game it still required at least a p166 to run but apparantly would run on a 486....
Guess I'm goint to have to reverse engineer the thing.... still need help on whats out there that Im going to need to use for programs to do this..

Sorry to hear that
. Without the original source code, reverse engineering the game will likely be nigh-impossible. It'll probably be much easier to just write an identical game from scratch. For good resources on Pocket PC development, check out the Aximsite Developers Corner and PocketMatrix Forums, among other resources. A lot of game developers, including Dan East (guy who ported Quake to PPC), frequent PocketMatrix. Good luck! alan

Your best way is to get hold of the source code or assembler and re-write the relevant portions to make them Pocket PC compliant. No offence, but I'm speculating by your questions that this is unfamiliar territory.

Yah its very unfamiliar. But I think the game is worth it and im willing to spend the time learning how to do it. After all, its not a huge game, I think maybe it took up 20 megs at most when installed, im just gestimating this.
