BugLord question

Does anyone know exactly where all of the save games are stored on the PocketPC for BugLord?

It's stored in the Registry:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Bearded Toad Entertainment\BugLord\Adv]

If you put, for example, 10 in there, then, the first 10 missions will be unlocked.

Will post a story on the compaibility of the game later to my blog (it's incompatible with the x51v / a06 but compatible with the HTC Wizard and all pre-WM5 devices)

Are you sure BugLord is incompatible with the Axim X51V?

I have been playing it on this for quite some time now (from missions 1-10 so far). The problem I have is the same ones I experienced when playing it under a WM2003 OS (Loox 720) which is after creating alot of units and playing for quite some hours it will crash completely.

However, under WM5 I notice it only crashes when I run out of RAM, I notice my RAM slowly going down from 28MB to 11MB and then from 11MB to 4.5MB and then when it runs out it crashes.

My Axim is booked for a RAM upgrade for various reasons so hopefully this will make a difference. (113MB of availiable RAM after upgrade)

On WM2003 the crash is totally different because I can have 90MB of free RAM and eventually it will still crash. I am guessing that how RAM is handled on WM5 is what makes the difference.

With regards to it being incompatible on Axim X51V I did find that it would not install using the standard method but I just copied the BugLord folder from an install I did a long time ago to my SD card over to my Axim X51V and it worked fine.

Thanks for the information, I did manage to discover this yesterday by doing a search through an unpacked system back for the keyword ''Bug'' which is where I found those registry entries. I had a feeling you could use that to unlock missions so thanks for the information.

What ROM version do you have? It just crashes at starting the game. My A06 x51v is totally clean - I haven't installed anything else on it. Thested this several times. I think it's an A06-related problem.

BTW, I've tried to fid the installation CAB file *PC_PPC.STRONGARM.cab - in vain. Dunno where e-PocketSetup 2002 stores them - in c:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp\eps001\, only BMP files and the license is stored. The same is true of \Program Files - I couldn't find the CAB in there.

My Axim X51V came preinstalled with ROM version A06 when I purchased it a few weeks ago.

BugLord starts up perfectly and only ever crashes when it runs out of RAM. For example it will run fine when there is even 3MB of RAM left but consistently runs out of RAM after long play and will crash. It has so far never crashed when there has been any RAM left.

I guess you could alwyas do a full system search for *.cab just to be sure but maybe I used some PocketPC software to create the cab install file. At the moment I am running BugLord from the Axim X51V's ROM as opposed to running from SD or CF card but doubt this will make any difference. I have quite alot of programs and games installed in ROM on my Axim so I am surprised it crashes for you on a clean install. I am wondering about the possible reasons now.

Yes mine is also version 1.00.0000 retail which was originally installed on my Loox 720 which I copied over to my Axim ROM when the Loox stopped working.

EDIT:

I don't think a cab file ever existed for BugLord and if I remember way back, I am pretty sure I tried using this program to create one from it's installation on my PocketPC.

http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=12849

This was only succesful to run an install on WM2003 but failed on WM5 hence why I had to directly copy over the folders and exe etc.
