PocketGBA, Morphgear, various games, etc. All run at high speed on my WM2003SE X50v (because I've installed the GAPI tweak, PHM, etc for max speed), except for a very annoying button lag. Every time I press a button, it takes from 200ms to 1 whole second for the Axim to realize I pressed it. In games like Mario, this makes the game unplayable because it takes too long for the Axim to respond to the button press, and by the time it realizes the jump button was pressed, Mario's already dead.
This seems to only happen in games or processor-heavy applications, because otherwise the Axim's button recognition is pretty snappy.
No, before anyone asks, this ain't my natural badness at games, I can whoop original Mario in about an hour on any system in the world, including my sister's old X3, which has no button lag. But on my X50v...
I've tried hard resetting, Upgrading the rom to A05, all sorts of game driver tweaks, etc. Somebody told me the system's button monitoring priority is lower than the games', so the processor listens to the game program before listening to the buttons... I don't know if that makes sense at all (And even if it does, I have no clue how to manually lower a game's "priority"), but it pretty much sucks because all games except for RPGs and whatnot are basically unplayable now on the X50v for me... Anyone else have this problem? Thanks in advance!

Well, I had the same exact problem with my x30, but now that I have an x51v there is no delay whatsoever. Are you running WM2003SE? Maybe that is the issue, in which case it could very well be a priority issue.

Hmm, so an upgrade to WM5 might solve things? Interesting... If so, then I guess I just found my excuse to upgrade :P
But maybe the X51v itself has fixed/upgraded hardware components pertaining to button efficiency or something... I guess I might want to check on that.
Anyone had this problem with an X50v which vanished after a WM5 installation? Any info would be tops folks. Thanks!

Nope, just plain ol' X50v with GAPI hack. If the (WM5) X51v has the issue too, it's probably not just a matter of upgrading... the buttons themselves are evil :D...
Anyone know of a program that can change the priority of other programs? I know Morphgear's "thread priority -> Lower" pretty much solved the button-lag problem with Morphgear, but is there something that can change the thread priority of, say, PocketGBA?
Thanks!

I'd bet a nickle that your button problem has to do more with the game you're running instead of the OS. "Some" games only grab one event off the system queue for each iteration of the render loop. If you get a backlog of events, then your button press will be delayed. The solution to this problem is for the game to service the event queue until the queue is empty. Sorry my explanation doesn't help, but ...
If you're having this problem with 2003, then it's mostly like going to reoccur with WM5.
Ah, I see. Well, PocketGBA lags on some systems, not others... for instance, my sister's PDA runs the very same emulator, with the very same mario without any button lag (an old X3). Some people with the X50v and this same program report no button lags at all (but with WM5)...
But thanks anyway! :)

I would advise you NOT try the bluetooth gamepad (in case you were considering that) its even worse.
I wonder if its perhaps the distance you have to push the button. You know, further before it "clicks" versus a short throw. It doesn't help that the buttons are so tiny either...
sorry, my question wasn't presented well at all. i'm basically saying, having the choice between a bluetooth or an IR controller, would bluetooth lag more or IR lag more?
