No reads the other forums around here.. :-)..

It's not a program or anything, it's a setting that seems to be making a difference for alot of people.... Works great for me....

Here it is.... -- From the Hardware Troubleshooting forum...
__________________________________________________ _______________________________________

Possible fix (help) from one of the other sites....

Go to start - settings - buttons - up/down control - and set "Repeat Rate" down to 0. (Closest to SLOW)

My DPad was OK before (Pacman on NES was hard to control and a few times it would get stuck in one direction)...

But so far (knock on old PDAs), it's been MUCH better, especially the control. I'm not any better at Pacman, but it's no longer the Axim's fault!! :D

Desi

And as for the problem being the location of the button, as long as it's not making contact, it might (might) just be cosmetic... When I was having it get stuck, I've had it get stuck going left, which has the most clearence.... Might be a red herring...

Ok Ya i tried PocketSNES and it isn't so good... Its manageable with a game like harvest moon you really dont need timing for hitting buttons... like playing a mario game would be hard because it skipps a lot so you timeing will be way off.

But if you really want to try it out its worth a shot or atleast until they come out with a new version.

The Real link is here: http://paqpark.nuclearfallout.net/projects.../pocketsnes.php

Not to many people know about this site its harder to find but this is the same creator/emulator just a newer site...

And of course if you dont know yet axim is ARM.

There are 2 good emulators for the Axim:

GNUBoy is a good gameboy emulator.
PocketNES is a great Nintendo emulator.

-so what your saying here, sorry I came in late, is NES and Game Boy emulators work fine? How about Genesis? Is it a smooth sync procedure?

Haven't tried Genesis or Arcade yet.. Those are next on my list....

I was actually OK with NES since Donkey Kong was so good, till I got past level 3.. and ... no level 4.. :-(

Time to test MameCE...

I downloaded Sega emulator for pocket pc but once i put it on my axim it wouldnt play right.

Sega emulator is still in a lot of revision so I really wouldnt try it now maybe in a few months...

There were a lot of problems with the sega emulator, i have had no problem with any other software/game just this.

OK, just tried with Donkey Kong and PacMan, and...

.....disappointed......

MAMEce ran them both, but with sound, VVVEEEERRRRYYY SLOW!!!! :-(
Without sound, still slow, but playable.

iMAME I couldn't get to play anything, but that's a ROM issue maybe. DKong said no, and they didn't have Pacman on the list..

I'm hoping there's room for improvement.....

Sorry everyone,
I can't seem to get any sound in Super Mario Brothers 1 on PocketNES, or on any games. Is it me or are they bad roms?

Spike,

I am using PokeNES (PocketNES) 1.0 final beta and I get sound on SuperMarioBros. Could it be you have the sound disabled? If we are using the same program, check this: Tap the screen, at the bottom tap Options / Sound. SMB plays great with it too.

The best emulator I've seen, hands down, is ScummVM, an emulator that lets you play old lucas arts games like Day of the Tentacle, Monkey Island, etc., on your pocket pc. Check it out:

Hey, I just downloaded that YAME thing but when I run it, Windows tells me it is not a valid Win32 application. What am I doing wrong?

That's right, because it's a Pocket PC application. Copy it to your device and run it from there.

BTW, I still think PocketNester is the emu du jour, with YameCE a close second... JMHO.

You proably got a defective or messed up rom i had no problems with super mario brothers 1 with Yamce or any other game infact its the best nes emulator out there and by the way never get pokenes its crap it frezzes after a few mins... It's a common problem, and I think that it is a problem with the x-scale proccessors, my cosin has a hp and his never froze....
