Question Psone controller to infrared port- did that ever happen?

I've been searching the forums for an hour; I remember someone posting that they were going to be making and selling such a thing. It was a device that worked with the IR port on a pocket pc to interface a playstation controller. I just now thought of it (got my emulators all working perfectly for some reason, not sure what I did), and now I can't find this thread anywhere. Anyone know whatever happened to this or if my memory is completely wrong?

It's just nuts that the one company that even thought to make a bluetooth controller messed up the most important aspect of its design with no remorse. boo.

Good idea, but why would u want ir. First of all on the axim, the ir ports at the top, so unless you somehow switched the display so its upside down, youd have the controller at the wrong end. Also, ir wouldnt be good when you move the controller slightly, bc you would lose contact with the axim.

They should make this bt or wired or ir if its wired all the way to the ir port.

Just put a tiny, convex mirror on your Ax, about one inch above the IR port, and you can use the IR controller. Seems like all you would need otherwise is a driver.

I'm not saying the design was perfect, but I was looking for something not involving selfmade modifications that I could use to play some games, and I had remembered reading about a device like the one I mentioned. If I were to imagine the optimal design, I would say it would be great to have one that just attatches to the serial port on the axim and needs no seperate power supply. It's unlikely that would ever happen though, cause no one likes to limit their product to one market if they can avoid it...

No one's ever actually offered to make x50v-customized controls and sell them though, have they? I tried it once, but my success was extremely limited...

yeah on that note is there any accesory or anything that could help like a control pad
for axim 51v only emulators are a bit of a pain to use with the movement pad thats centred in the middle of the device.
thanks!

With a USB host CF card, you can (could?) use a USB game controller. The PL720 folks are using several of these controllers; see http://www.firstloox.org//forums/showthread.php?t=2719
