Quake II or III

For the life of me I cannot get either of these games to run (Quake II, Quake III). I just get a stupid white screen. I can hear audio but cannot see the picture, and I have to open up my contacts via a hardware button and go to the start menu, end all programs, etc, you all know the process :-)

Am I doing somethign wrong? A while ago I heard those games just arn't available for the x51v, but then I saw dell selling them with their x51v's online. (you can buy software at the checkout or whatever). Any thoughts?

I haven't fooled with QII or QIII but I think the memory requirements of both of these games surpass the x51v.

I think the only way to play these games is with a memory upgrade from those guys advertised on this site to 128mb RAM. I would love to play these games, but QI was my favorite and it plays just fine.

Now some company (I forget the name) has made "Quake Mobile" (an updated quake 1) to take advantage of the graphics processor in our Axims. They also have several add-on packs up for sale as well. The downside to this is lack of multiplayer.

Originally Quake 1, 2, and 3 are just ported from the PC

quake mobile must be purchased through Handago (www.handago.com), it is a port of quake I that uses x50/51v's graphics accelerator & is great-looking. there is a free quake game called pocket quake but its not as good as the mobile. refer to my guide to installing pocket quake on an x50/51v in the games forum if youre interested in pocket quake.

You may also want to make a generic search for 'quake' in my blog - I've written a lot on running the different Quake versions on the x51v.
