Sound Problems POcketGBA

I downloaded the newest PocketGBA, and I havn't downloaded the DLL file into my directory, and I managed for it to work on 4 games that I've tried. The problem is, everytime i run one of these ROMs, the sound is really choppy. I changed the audio settings around, but it didn't help. I have an X50V. I think the um video is running at good speed since I get about 20+ fps.

Hi!

3.Features

* FREE software.
* Support for 32MB cartridge files.
* Support for .gba files.
* Sound emulation : Direct Sound A with DMA mode(noisy).
* Save/Load emulator state with 9 slots.
* Editable Virtual Game-pad.
* Redefinable hardware control buttons.
* Various drawing mode.

I know, the sound looks like you're listening to an old vinyl disc. Unfortunately, this is due to PocketGBA's bad sound emulation code. There's no way to fixing it, but there -IS- a way to make it better. First, set frameskip to auto. Then go to sound settings and set these values:

Mixer Rate=11025Hz
Mixer Buffer=200Byte
High Quality Mixer
Wave Buffer=1024Byte
Loop Normal

And I promise you the sound should be just fine (of course you'll have to set your processor to 624MHz.

Are you serious? The sound is great on mine! Way better than my old GBA! Maybe cleaning up your RAM? MemMaid just cleaned up 10 MB for me!

Nuh uh, cleaning your ram won't help you. The quality of sound depends on three things. Speed of the CPU, Emulation code (+settings) and the specific rom. Now I believe you're using the fastest speed possible, and that's 624MHz (yeah you can overclock, but you have 2700g chip so you don't need it). Now Emulation code... It's not the best, but it's good enough to emulate the sound properly. If you set these values, I'm sure it'll at least improve the sound if not fixing it completely. ANd the third thing is rom. There are soooooooooooo many roms (games) I can't even count them :) And every single each of those has their specific rom sound with specific sampling frequency and channel setting. So you might just be unlucky because the rom you're trying to play is really hard to emulate (for example: high sampling frequency, too much channels, stereo sound). So that's it.

Well, I don't use the 2700g chip accleration, for reasons I stated in the other thread, and it still sounds good, if not great. Of course, the music isn't that great to start with... (Pokemon Ruby, he he)
